Have you thought about going custum and building a turbo to your specs...same as the t51r?

loi 12-08-2002 01:11 PM

that's the best anyone can do with that kit, maybe 20 to 30 bucks cheaper that's all. unless you buy it from hks japan. maybe JT import jason can help?

Why not try a custom T-72 BB. Have the rest of the kit built for You? the total cost for my setup is about 2700.00 with oil lines and plates but no intake. No problems with fitment also.

black99 12-15-2002 10:59 AM

Yep $4500.00 is about the cheapest you're going to find a T51 kit for. You may even want to weigh if you can accomplish your goals with a different/cheaper turbo kit. Sure it's nice to have the HKS T51 name but if you can save 1k and accomplish your goals hp wise then it might be worth it. If you have any fabrication skills then the making your own kit idea would be your best bet to get something similar for cheap. The T72BB sounds like a great idea.

HK$ they are nice kits but they are not cheap..................................... if you want cheaper get a greddy kit... although hks is a bit nicer!

94touring 12-15-2002 01:23 PM

Yeah thats just a lot of money to have thier name on it. Custom turbo is really the way to go.

vosko 12-15-2002 01:56 PM

if you got the time and ability yes.... turbo kits are so much nicer... much less hassle. that's just how i like it lol

94touring 12-15-2002 02:12 PM

Yeah that true, it takes more time and ability, but looks the same and cost less when your done. I just hate that you have to pay so much more for a name, doesn't make any sense to me. I just bought 2 brand new racing seats with brackets for $509.65, which are the exact same thing as sparco torino's that cost $600 a seat with no brackets. For $4500 they should throw in a spare turbo or something.

I agree and I was even going to say you might be able to accomplish your goals with a t88 kit which I believe is a little under 1k cheaper than the t51. Many people like the t51 for it's jet turbine sound though.

I am the one who got Resource his Kai kit. I don't want to quote in public. PM me and I will give you the price.
