My motor is currently being rebuilt, and streeetported. I have been having trouble deciding on a turbo(or kit) can anyone with real experience give me some feedback?! I have been reading up on the gt40r, t66, and the 62-1. I'm trying to get my fd into the 10's but be as close to streetable as possible. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Secondary ports have a bridge... Engine section has plenty of pictures.

Your question is hard to answer.

Define streetable to you.

I got the same question too. Wouldn't the gt40 be a good choice? We need good info on this.

Too depressing for me with no running 7. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

cripsr6 06-30-2004 03:17 PM

Talk about depressing. A couple of us were there even though our cars aren't running>

Define streetable

i just dont want to get worked on the street.
So can you handle ear shattering dbs out of a bridge'd exhaust, bad gas mileage, neck stapping clutches, 1800rpms idles... etc...

You are the 1 canadian I was looking foward to meeting.

ErnieT 06-30-2004 08:33 PM

10's are easy. Hell I did it all day with a reman. You can take the R85 and run 20psi on a reman and run 10's all day. You'll have great streetability.

cripsr6 06-30-2004 08:50 PM

thanks ernie, but when will the kit be available for real? its been saying one wek on the website for ever now!

ErnieT 06-30-2004 09:51 PM

I spoke with D today. Call him. They are ready.

rxrotary2_7 07-01-2004 05:18 AM

well.... they are ready to a certain degree anyway.... just email or call Dee or myself for details. pre-orders are being buttoned up now. sorry about the website, at the time i posted the "week away" thing... we were under the impression it was going to be just a week.... but we are not going to send out *$hit*, so a bunch of adjustments were made so there are no fitment problems for anyone. one little thing after another kept popping up and i never changed the website. like i said, email or call one of us. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

rxrotary2_7 07-01-2004 05:20 AM

btw, Ernie, how did the Evo do last night? call me a little latter on... hope you got the video too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png "Hold it on daddy's hand shifting!" LMAO!

l8t apex 07-01-2004 07:17 AM

why hasnt any posted the design specs on the 'R85"?

I see you got to buy everything that you may not need. Its a GT series Turbo.

Why not make money on the turbo itself and sell more?

Just me......I got the GT40R on order. I spent too much money on everthing else and then I was told to sell it? Then I would have to pay $3,200.00 plus my loss on my new stuff?

I think the GT40R will do fine too.

93 R1 07-01-2004 07:44 AM

I don't think its a GT series turbo. I saw it in person and Dee never mentioned that.

rxrotary2_7 07-01-2004 07:59 AM

it is not a GT series turbo. it is a large frame turbo, the flange is not a standard flange and will not fit with the use of any other manifold on the market, not just the flange, but the whole turbo itself wont fit without our manifold....

rxrotary2_7 07-01-2004 08:05 AM

call Dee, its is ready... again. LOL. he just wants to tune it in your presence i believe. i know it was running last night. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

l8t apex 07-01-2004 09:08 AM

ok so i am ignant. School me. Doesnt GT designate Garretts ported compressor intake design and the accompanying compressor wheel?

Or is the ported intake housing on all T type turbos now? I dont think. The turbine maybe another make and mated to make it special?

Just having fun guessing.......

93 R1 07-01-2004 12:01 PM

Gt refers to the "new style" wheel. Its much more efficient then the "older" standard designs.
