One of my Aquamist pumps died and I need to replace it , I use two because I put together a fairly high flow system, anyway , I recently came across the Shurflow pumps (looking at the "do it yourself" kits) and it seems that one of those can outperform my two Aquamist pumps !! . Anyone using these pumps ? , how good are they ? , do they actually work as good as they say ? , and the price is QUITE a lot cheaper than the Aqua. !! , by the way anyone know if the pump in the pic is actually a Shurflo pump , I already bought it for $40.00 , its rated at 2 gpm and 220psi !! ? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

shurflow pumps are used in marine applications, im sure you can

find a **** load of pumps if thats what you need, that looks like

someone put a label on top of another pump

DuMaurier 7 06-07-2004 10:56 PM

exactly what I'm thinking , and it looks like a Shurflow.

either way $40 aint bad

I am currently using a shurflow pump with two 3.5 gph misters. The only thing I don't like about the shurflow pump is, it will not hold a constant pressure. There working range is from 30-45psi. At 45psi the pump turns off and will not turn on until the pressure drops to 30 psi. So the misters are operating at different water pressure. I bench tested my set up and you can visually see more water being sprayed at different times of pump operation. Does the Aquamist pump hold a constant working pressure?

No the Aquamists' pressure also falls as water is being injected , but the pump starts sooner , maybe you need to adjust or even change the switch for one with a higher setting and maybe add an accumulator to the system to give you a reserve so that the system doesnt cycle as much . Guys with the high (100psi) pressure/ flow (1.6-1.8 gpm) pump say that the pump rarely starts and when it does its only for about 3-5 seconds at a time.

Ok this may be a little off-topic but is related... can i mount the water tank in the trunck... if yes then from where do i take the pipe??

thanks

Ordered a few more misters and another valve to add a intercooler sprayer to the system. This should make the pump cycle faster and make the water pressure a little more stable. http://www.turbomirage.com/water3.html This is what I am running. And adding a intercooler sprayer.

Yes you can mouny it in your trunk / hatch , thats where I have mine , as for the other part or your question , I don't understand what you're asking.

I'm with DuMaurier 7 on this. If you put in a accumulator and a check valve (does the pump have a check valve in it? if so, no need for extra check) the pump won't have to cycle as much and more importiantly the pressure will be more stabilized.

I know this is a old thread but, I just upgraded my pump to a 100psi one through coolingmist.com. What a differance in spray pattern. Lot more consistant. With my old pump I ran two 3.5gph misters then ugraded one to 6gph. Both nozzles are rated at 40psi. Now with the new pump I am wondering if the nozzle size are going to be to much. I guess I will find out this weekend.

What size nozzles are you guys running? gph at psi.

I use a pair of Aquamist 0.9mm nozzles with a pair of HSV's (water injectors) , I have mine running on a separate 3D map . the first nozzle is set to come on at 8 psi and the second at 15 psi , both are controlled via the same map.
