This is an FYI. I own a new XGen C-store and I sell Shell gas. Several months ago all dealers in the New Orleans and Cincinatti areas were trained to introduce the new V Power from Shell. While I cant answer the specifics on its 'New Chemistry"

I can say that our octane was rating higher than posted. The state test all stations for water , octane , pump accuracy....

Well I was getting 88 on 87, 90 on 89 and 94 on 93. So in class they instructed us that the new premium was going to a higher octane and it would cost me $.04 per gallon more. Well it does in regards to both above. Apparently enough people in both city's metro area bought the new fuel that it is going nation wide.

So now you can get the higher octane at your Shell once it displays new V power.

For those who boost .....a better fuel with higher octane may give a peice of mind.

Whats the deal with shell and texaco? They are changing some and not others around here. Did Shell buy Texaco, or texaco, shell or did they just merge.

Sorry for the off topic.

Art, since learning of your 94 octane I've been fueling up with Shell at Vets. and Causeway by lakeside shopping center and noticed the V-Power sticker but still has a 93 octane rating. Are they just waiting on new stickers or is the high octane gas not yet available ??

i hope we see this on NY because sunoco drop their 94 octane to a 93. i just hope i dont get detonation by just one grade less

FikseRxSeven 01-12-2004 04:45 PM

so i guess this would be like sunoco's 94 octane?

Rob x-7 01-12-2004 04:57 PM

ny's gas was supposed to change as of the 1st, no more MTBE

because of some lawsuit, which is good news except now they

are going to charge more.

My station is a Texaco station. Shell, Texaco and Chevron are now all one company. My shop still flys the Texaco flag, we are not required to make the change to shell. If shell would give some good incentives to make the change, I would. But they don't. So for now I am still texaco, even though we pump shell gas

l8t apex 01-12-2004 07:01 PM

At this seminar the Shell rep was from Jersey. She said that the octane would be higher but that there is something to do with the Government frawning upon the change. Why? She could not answer. Well all the owners were instructed that we could tell our customers of the higher octane and since I usually practice what I preach I changed my sticker to 94. If I can tell you verbally then I should be able to post it.

If for any reason the level is below what I have stickerd then I get a state fine. That protects my customers and Shell would be in a bind by instructing its independent dealers in its training program.

As for as the SUNOCO Race 94 it wouldnt be the same because the race gas does not have detergent in it and has higher phoshate& sulfer which is good for motor but not for environment.

Only its ability to resist detonation is the same.

Man I hear that. Its not right that you changeyour colors for their benefit at your expence especially since you signed a deal to rep Texaco not some one else.

get used to it, the most different the voters make the gas the more it will cost
