Is there a special way to find the a/r ration for a twin divided housing?

I`ve got a KKK K27, the real one, not the one SR Motorsport is selling.

I tried to find the a/r ration on it, using the area of both the ex. ports divided by the distance from the turbine wheel center to the center of the ex. ports, but I`m only getting weird numbers..

If anyone would like to help me out, the measurement are as following:

2 ex. ports with 45mm x 28mm "holes" each, and 68mm between the turbine wheel center and the center/middle of the ex. ports.

Any help a is appreciated.

Here`s some pics of it.

Converting to square inches and inches before dividing gives you a much more resonable number. 1.46

It's only 68 mm from the shaft to the middle of the flange? It looks like more in the pictures.

Yeah I`m pretty sure it`s 68mm, but I`ll take a new measurement just in case. Here`s a pic of the exhaust side, showing the size a bit better.

It`s got a 76mm turbine wheel and 68mm outlet on the exhaust side, and a 87mm compressor wheel and 42mm outlet on the intake side.

How many hp do you think it will be good for?

Both of these lines would have to be 68mm then.

your K27 looks alot different than mine...

Anyways, what is the forumla you guys are useing?

How much and where did you get it?

wanta be boosted 02-22-2004 03:34 PM

Well, check ebay...

And I got mine for $200 shipped.

My mistake, made some new measurement to day, and it turned up to be 111,5mm from the shaft to the middle of the flange.

Should I use the are for both the ex. ports or just one when I`m calculating it?

I bought it from a friend of mine, so I got ir really cheap:)

Tried it on my car just before I tore down the engine. It started to spool at 3000 rpm, and I think it will hit max boost at 3500-3700.. Didn`t want to push it, because of the stock fuel injection.

It will be back on the road in 2 months, with a rebuilded ported engine, prog. efi, fmic and all the other parts:)

Cheers

That sounds like a good number A/R = 0.89

If you only use one runner you end up with half that, which is crazy small.

Ronny 02-24-2004 06:27 PM

How many hp will it support?

sooooo...

What is the formula you people are useing to find the AR?

Thanks!

Ronny 02-27-2004 07:03 PM

It`s A/R, A being the area of the exhaust port, and R being the distance from the center of the turbinewheel to the center/middle of the exhaust port.

cheers

Then he must be one hell of an accurate measurer, 'cause I calculated that from his numbers!
