i was looking at my turbo last night and in idle doesnt spin at all. but it makes 6 psi while running. is that good or not?
Well it should spin pretty easily if its on the car and oiled up. Do you have a lot of shaft play? Does it push in and out? What kind of turbo is this?
I'm guessing this is on your TurboII? I don't know too much about turbos that is why I don't fool around with mine but I would think if the turbine is not spinning at idle that that is fine. As long as it spins while you are accelerating. Maybe it needs to be oiled up a little or maybe it is on its way out...
It should spin at idle also.
Depends on the size and how good the bearing are and oil pressure.
Stock TII shouldbe spining. On my big 60-1 is spins very very slowly, I think i need new bearings. C |
My t62-1 spins very fast at idle, wouldn't want to get my hand caught in the inlet.
My TD07 spins pretty fast at idle. When I shut off the car I can walk around to the front and it stops spining about 5 sec later.
Yeah with my old apexi kit you could here what I assume are the ball bearings spool down several seconds later.
is a non modified S4 turbo that i put on my gslse engine. it doenst spin at idle at all but with the engine shut off i can move it with my fingers. yes it have a little up and down play but the guys @ mazdatrix told me that it normal. i have a -4 line for the oil supply with no restriction because i dont know what to put on that. the line it self is smaller that the stock turbo II oil fee line and my car puts 45-60 psi of oil pressure in idle.

94 touring is correct. i love how my apexi spins after i turn the car off. most people are like wtf
