I have a 1986 GXL with a 1987 turbo II engine dropped in it. I have a front mount intercooler about three times bigger than the stock intercooler. Straight piped through the cat and exhaust. I just rebuilt the turbo and the car onlyh has 60,000 miles.
Question: I want to raise the boost to about 10 psi. Since the engines only run at 4 psi stock will this overload the engine or can the engione handle more and still stay somewhat reliable? What will I have to do to keep the car reliable if get the car to put out over 300 hp? |
You're going to need more fuel going into you engine with all the extra boost. I'd recomend getting the Apexi Super AFC before you crank up your boost. Not a bad investment for $350 vs. $1000+ for an engine.

The SAFC is no good if you don't have bigger injectors and high output Fuel Pump.
