Is it possible to install twin HKS GT3037s's in a 3rd gen. What would need to be done, and what do you think the outcome would be? Or is it just stupid?!

Node 03-19-2003 09:33 AM

that would make a disgusting amount of power if you could spool it.

Thats what the 1000hp skylines and supras have. But they run a lot more boost than a street rx-7 can.

No real idea, but you'd probably need some huge intake and exhaust porting for those with a 13b.

Maybe would work good on a 20b https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Anyways, I know nothing of those turbos on a rotary, just rambling on https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

i think the KSP car has that setup on an FC, its like 700hp and I'm going to assume a full bridge. This is a setup for race cars, not for the street, and even then its alot less complex to have a big single and still go just as fast. Once you start getting into those power levels its not like you can make more that 500whp in pump gas anyway, so it doesn't really matter for the street unless you can afford to run C16 for everyday driving.

edit, just checked they have the same setup on their FD also

unless you are build a dedicated race car its just not a good idea

vosko 03-19-2003 02:04 PM

twin turbos are completely unnecessary unles money is no object https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

TYSON 03-19-2003 02:39 PM

Border Racing sells one now and A-Spec Tuning is working on one using turbos similar to what you described. I think the Border is something like $9000 and A-Spec likley won't be much cheaper.... If you make much more power than Vosko's $3500 kit at the same boost, you would surprise a lot of people. Unless you are planning on hitting 30 psi or so. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

Yeah Cheech knows his stuff..

djgiantrobot 03-19-2003 06:46 PM

I'd be surprised to see anyone running over 25psi on street gas.

TYSON 03-19-2003 06:57 PM

If we're talking 94 octane, I think they would be pointless. You can get all the power possible on street gas out of a 35/40 or T78.

Cheech don't know ****, but he is learning! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Didn't that Orange SP engineering FD have the 3037's? I'd almost bet money on it...If I remember correctly. Sweet ass car, too bad they wrecked it.

vosko 03-19-2003 07:56 PM

go T78 go T78 its your birfday

jk

i do love my T78... i admit the GT35/40 spools faster but my car def feels a little faster....

Turbo II 03-20-2003 12:27 PM

what about a T88?

onboost 03-20-2003 12:49 PM

T78 is actually A LOT more responsive than T88... T88 should make good power, but i don't think it will be a good street car, autoXer, or anything else other than a dragster https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Turbo II 03-20-2003 01:14 PM

or just a dyno monster

vosko 03-20-2003 01:36 PM

if somebody wants to buy me a T88 i'll put it on my car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Turbo II 03-20-2003 01:45 PM

i already donated $5 to ur car. i think thats enough

sandmans7 03-24-2003 01:48 AM

Yeah, friend of mine made 610 rwhp with T88 on a streetport built by MVA in NJ. Would be nice just to have those numbers, I would sleep alot better.

That FD didnt have a 13b in it. . . it had a 2JZ. . so it means nothing that it could run 3037 gt's

TYSON 03-28-2003 11:27 PM

You're thinking of the wrong car. There was an orange FD in magazines a couple years ago with a twin turbo setup. They actually had one of the pictures in the article reversed, so it looked like the turbos were on the drivers side.

HeffSpooled 03-29-2003 06:15 AM

I just happen to have the 09/01 issue of Turbo & High-Tech Performance that I think has the car you're talking about in it.

Orange & Black SP Engineering, black wheels, big black wing......

"twin 2835R GT series turbos with 0.61 a/r compressor housings and 56-trim wheels" - 19psi

onboost 03-30-2003 12:32 PM

the one with 2JZ is the yellow car, so called the Supra 7, OWNED by one of the guy in SP Engineering (not going to post name)

the Orange car is a different car, it has the 13B in it.
