Hi guys,

Just converted to single turbo... everything is ok... no smoke..

The only problem is that i am overboosting.. I am using the turbosmart wastegate which i hooked up to the intercooler pipe right after the turbo...it is connected via the boost control solonoid from the greddy e-01 that i am using... before going single i had connected the COM side to the actuator and the NO side to the intercooler.... Now i have connected the COM to the Wastegate and the NC to the Intercooler pipe as it says in the E-01 manual... it keeps overboosting...

what do i do... My friend tell me that i should connect it to the COM and NO rather than COM and NC.. I just followed what greddy manual said...

Ok i have the following vaccums now...

one from the Breather to the intake before the turbo

one from the wastegate to the intercooler pipe with the boost control solonoid in between..

one from the UIM to the boost guage and the E-01

One from UIM to blow off valve..

thats about it... i did not take off the UIM... so did not take off the map sensor vaccum....Did i miss anything ??.........the car seems to run great.. boost buildup is amazing... but what do i do about this overboosting..

Also has anyone used the turbosmart 45mm Progate... that is what i am using... how do i reduce the boost to the minimum... there were two ports on the wastegate to hookup the vaccum to and i connected it to the lower one... the upper one is empty.. do i need to block it?? or should i just connect the vaccum on the upper port?

Also i have only connected one vaccum to the wastegate am i supposed to connect 2??

I know these are alot of questions but i wanted to give an idea of what i have done so that it would be easier to pin point the problem...

Please help...

Thanks

Wastegate on the intercooler pipe???

First things first. eliminate the boost controller and check the wastegate itself (plumbe the boost reference right to the wastegate) then take it for a cruise and see what you get. If you get a steady boost and it is holding close to the spring setting of the wastegate it is your E-01 that is causing the problem.

If not you have a wastegate problem and need to remedy that before going any further.

I though the wastegate is on the exhaust side of the turbo, and not on the intercooler piping. I though that the BOV is on the intercooler piping.

Ok, this is what you need to do. the way you have it run now is good as long as the line from the soenoid to the wg goes in the top of the wg, and you run another vacuum line from the intercooler piping to the side of the wg. With no line to the side of the wg that bitch will boost to infinity. With the vacuum line from the solenoid run to the side of the wg it will boost way high.

Yes i have the wastegate attached to manifold.. I was just refering to where i have taken the vaccum for the wastegate from..

I have only one vaccum line connected to the wastegate.. and that is the bottom side one on the wastegate... there is another port right above the one i have conneted which is left open on the wastegate... I am very new IGY is this what i need to do..

I need to connect another vaccum to the intercooler pipe right after the turbo... then one vaccum i take to the COM side of the solonied from the intercooler and from the NC side of the solonoid to the upper port of the wastegate...

then i run the other hose right after the turbo to the lower port of the wastegate...

Am i on the right lines?

Also i took this kit off of a friends fd which was boosting fine.. the only thing different was that from the boost solonoid he did not connect the NC side rather he kept it connected to the NO side... and his boost was under control...

Also i have pics but they are a little more than 500k.. how can i post them... or can I e-mail

thanks alot...

Basically you need three lines. 2 of them going to the wastegate. 1. Connects from the IN port on the boost controller to the intercooler piping preferably. It must see manifold pressure.

2. Connects to the Out side of the boost controller. This should connect to the big Nipple on your wastegate. This is normally the spring adjustment as well.

3. A small line connecting from the side of the wastegate to the UIM somewhere so it can read manifold pressure.

As far as NC NO and that Jazz I am not familiar with Apex boost conrol parts.

ooh man new problem... I completely disconnected the boost control solonoid and the car seemed to run fine at 10-11 psi... but then i had to adjust the screw a little more https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif while lossening it more to reduce boost the screw came off completely.. and now for some odd reason it does not screw in.. i mean it just stays on top no matter how much i try to tighten it... What have i done??

Please tell me its something simple.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif Please
