I'm looking to upgrade my intercooler but have no idea what one to go with. I was looking at the front mount Apexi GT since I have an Apexi RX-6 Single turbo but I don't know what kind of quality it is. I want to push a max of 16-18 psi. How hard is it to install the front mounts?

Thanks

I ran the apexi fmic with the apexi at 18psi. Front mounts are kind of a pain. We took off the front bumper to get the apexi on there. I know that the gredddy, which probably looks better and sits further up front is a real bear from what I see and hear. More modifying there, so the apexi would be the easier install. If it were me, after playing with smic's and fmic's, i'd just get a good smic. It makes everything easier IMHO, which includes keeping the car water temps lower.

As for the smic, do you recommend one company over another? I was kind of looking at the M2 Performance medium and large smic. Both of them are $1499. I know with the large I have to relocate the battery. I keep hearing about pressure drop with some of the upgrades and some has less than others. Is this a good thing or bad? I don't know anything about pressure drop.

Thanks

M2 medium is plenty big for stock turbos. The core is tall and wide and should provide less pressure drop than the usual front mounts, due to much shorter piping and the core itself is shorter in length.

M2 makes a good unit. I haven't seen much info on the pressure drop between the big and the medium. The big M2 I don't believe is any bigger than a fmic, so i'm not sure pressure drop will really be an issue.

You should check out www.rotaryextreme.com Chuck makes two different V-mount IC setups. They excel in both function and fashion. That is what alot of tuners are switching to now. They are even better if you are running a vented hood! That would be my suggestion. Plus it's what I'm going with. Just my .02 Best of luck in your decision.
