I'm not a big fan of nitrous, but it does give bang for your buck. A friend of mine is selling his wet kit, and it is a 35 shot. I've been wanting to go with a bigger turbo, however financial reasons right now keep me from doing that. So, is it possible to set this thing up safely with decent benifits? All i'm looking for is a little more top end power for my apexi rx6 turbo. I assume that I will need to retard my timing in the range it kicks in by a degree or 2. I'm already running 18psi on pump gas with 1200cc injectors, so my duty cycle is getting up around 90% by redline, do I need to worry about maxing out my injectors? The last thing I want to do is blow my motor up out of stupity, so any advice is appreciated.

with that small of a shot, and the fact that it is wet, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, you can actually run up to a 50 dry without much trouble, but, with a wet shot, you are not adding any load on your injectors at all, as the shot includes its own fuel, with the wet kit, you could actually re jet it up to about 100 hp without worry, beyond that, you will want to get a retard box, to retard your timing a few degrees when you are engaging the nitrous, for added saftey.

That makes sense. I'm very new to nitrous, never messed with it on anything else before.
|
i would suggest going to 1600cc injectors. when you shoot the N2O your going to raise the boost.......

As long as the topic is up about n20, how do those intercooler fogger kits work? is the n20 shot into the intercooler or just cools the air on the intercooler? im kindof interested in that for the stock intercooler
|
vosko: good point, I didn't even think about that, nitrous creates more exhuast, and hence, more boost than normal,
1revvin7: from what I have seen, it just sprays across the intercooler, kind of a waste of expensive gas if you ask me, you can get similar results with water I believe. now, having your purge valve spraying across your intercooler, best of both worlds =) |

I know that **** is gonna get hot, so do ya think a little n20 would help with that? |
You may run out of fuel pump as well.. I personally wouldn't run NoS.. to F&F for me and I want my power there every time I push the gas.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

Throttle in a Bottle...until the bottle runs DRY https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

if tuned properly, then it's a great power adder. yeah til the bottle runs dry, but then again the party is totally over when you run out of gas. So take that anyway you want to.

You will also get the additional power of the NOS cooling the intake charge.

Jet the gas side of your nozzle a few pills bigger you'll be spraying a little rich but... It will even out when your turbo goes nuts over the increased airflow and the denser charge. I used to run a 50 shot wet in my TII. It would add 75 HP to the wheels. If it was tuned properly and I used really cold plugs (11's) I would have seen 100 RWHP from a 50 shot. My only problem was the fact thet my stock Series 4 Turbo was hitting over 15 lbs of boost while spraying. That in itself wasn't the big problem. The big problem was my fuel cut defender. It let the ECU cut the fuel at any point over 12.5 lbs. It seems the Racing Beat one only works up to 12 lbs once you go over that you car hits fuel cut. I was running my rear rotor on N2O and gas from the NOS. There was no fuel from the injector. I did not feel the fuel cut because the rear rotor was getting fuel just a really lean mixture. I ended up damaging my rear apex seals.I am still driving the car but have since removed the NOS. I have no self control and would still use it if it was in. I thankfully didn't toast the rear rotor just weakened it a little. I have 60-80 LBs of compression in the rear rotor and over 100 in the front. I am getting ready to install a complete FD engine in my TII and I am planning on using the new Haltech to control it. I will then re-install the NOS and keep it jetted at 50 HP. I love it! |
hmmm, sounds kinda cool. i might try it. Would it be safe to use on the stock intercooler, if i set the WG to lets say 10-12#'s? like a 50wetshot?
|
Ive also been thinking of using a nos system on my project...most of the 7's that you read about like the one from rx7.com they are using 50-75 shots..but use a wet system safer
|
I would not hurt to wire in an independent fuel pump for the NOS. That is my plan with when I swap in the FD engine. Your fuel pump is working hard enough it doesn't need a spike from the NOS.
