First off....I was a newbie at dragging from a dead stop.I have shitty nitto

555 245/35/18 w/ tread rating of 300.

I ran 2.4 60ft spinning (as you all know about) 1st,2nd and 3rd ending with 115mph (13.408). my bud runs 12lbs (2 less than me) and he hazed the clutch to a 12.01@ 115 w/ 1.9 60ft.

I dump @ 4grand and even if I roll on I spin the **** out of my tires to the rev. I hope I dont have to feather the clutch(slip it) like my bud but I am so pissed. I should be in the 11's. Some dude said for every point at the 60 ft you can take two off at the end.

Let me know what you guys do at the strip as for as setup and technic. I hate seeing some stang get better times cause of my driving.I will get good tires also.

Thanks for you guys help.

Try drag radials or et streets.

One trick I use is to rev to about 4k and feather/slip the clutch. It isn't good for it but it works pretty well.

ET streets is a different story. 6k and dump it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

buy a set of MT ET Streets for your stock rims

i ran a personal best of 12.0@ 117.6 with a 1.75 60 FT on M&H Racemaster Tires on stock rims. i just revved to 7000rpm and dumped the clutch. be prepared these are things YOU WILL BREAK. differential, ppf, axles. you might want to check and or replace these.....

i need more tuning then i should be in the 10's. i need to drive a little better also https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Funny after posting i spoke to the fastest rx7 guy in the drag scene today.

he said the same thing (kind of) except with stock trainny system use a bias ply like M&H. Radials shock the torsion too much.

Well my bud did the afore mentioned feathering ,but man you got to smell the clutch and stuff burn !!

But he did this on Khumo street crap tires! they have like 300 tread wear rating!12.01!

I believe the drag tires are they way to go.

Thanks!

P.S. Vosko you scare me with the reality of dollar signs.

Who did you talk to?

I agree with Vosko & your local fast guy. Bias belted tires wrinkle a bit and save your axles. I run 14 lbs and have gotten 60' times as low as 1.71. on MT ET Streets. Rev it up and pop the clutch.

18 inch wheels ain't gonna help though. Mount the Streets on an extra set of stock rims like Vosko says. You don't want to run ET streets on the street anyway unless the chance of rain is zero and the road is straight forever. They are only useful for drag racing. And make sure you have a strong clutch. Spinning saves the car pieces. When you hook up, everythings gotta hold. If your clutch is suspect add more air, get some spin, and give the clutch a breather.

What air pressure are you running in the Nitto 555s? My experience with the ET streets has been pretty good, but a lot of folks swear by the nittos.

nitto's are good but i will be switching to et streets when i have an extra $300. i think i want to get a few more runs on the M&H's anyway. my mechanic judge ito is a drag racing FANATIC... its good when your mechanic knows everything https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

SLICKS and Launch Kit, and don't do the VOSKO.

The VOSKO = 7K launch without a first gear.

You could always get a ACT clutch. They will break your transmission in half or make you go flying off the line. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png But if you don't want wipelash every time you are at a stop light they have the multi disc one but ouch are they pricy.

l8t apex 12-16-2002 11:48 AM

i spoke with Ari . Thanks for the input. Now....do I wanna break my **** for track time to say I did it this fast or just keep doin roll -ons on the street? Hmmmmmmm.
