How is it that you install 2 fuel pumps?Anyone have a website on the how to or can someone explain how this works in detail?

The easy way would be to clamp them together and use a 3 way brass splitter to merge both pumps into the 1 stock fuel line. You just have to make sure that the 2nd pump can pick up fuel well.

Shaolin Racing 06-14-2002 03:24 PM

Ok but how do you mount them so that they pick up the fuel, obvioulsy you would have to mount them outside the tank so this is where I need to know how.How to mount them both outside the tank and how they get fuel outside the tank?

Also,is there enough current back there to run them both?

Oh, I thought that you were trying to do it in the tank. Here's a picture of that setup:

If you want 2 external pumps then you should add a sump to your fuel tank. If that's what you want to do let me know and I'll explain it.

Shaolin Racing 06-14-2002 04:00 PM

Hmm,well I would love to do 2 pumps in tank if possible. That looks about the same as my third gen assembly but with an added pump,am I correct? From those pics it didnt look that hard to do,again am I correct? Will that setup work on the 3rd gen too...Lets say 2 supra pumps?

That's an 89-91 TII setup, but it's the same for a 3rd gen. 2 Supra pumps will work well, but I would recommend upgrading the fuel lines. The stock lines are kind of small. I use them on my car, but I shouldn't be. Just don't tell my car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png One way to do it would be to weld a -10 steel bung to the fuel outlet of the fuel pump assembly and run a -10 line all the way to the fuel rails.

Shaolin Racing 06-14-2002 08:50 PM

What is a "Bung"?

What is -10?

-10 refers to a particular sized AN fitting. A bung would be a male end, sort of like a female O2 sensor bung.

Try looking at a Summit catalog, and you'll get the idea. You can check them out online http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?...d%3D9%26s%3D139 .

Well, back to the thread at hand.

...another idea is to take the stock lines running out of the fuel pump holder thing-a-do-hicky...and use both lines as outs. then when they meet up at the engine bay, take a Y brass fitting and tap them both together, then run it to primary/secondary/fuel pressure regulator and then to -10 steel braided line and back to the fuel pump holder thing-a-do-hicky and drill a hole, put a female "BUNG" there and drop an -an fitting on to it...not my personal setup, but the one I WILL be doing...when T-66 is here :P

Yeah, those look like Walbro pumps. I may try it with ND pumps if I don't wind up going with an external pump. You should try going with a Viper pump if you want something that goes in the tank. I remember a guy trying one, and it worked well. I would assume that the iper's pump will support well over 500 HP.

You can run a -6 or -8 return line. -10 isn't really necessary.

Stupid question but There are 3 lines going from the engine bay to the tank. One is abvioulsy for pumping fuel to the motor? One is for Ventlation? And the other is for Return, what and why is it returning anything?

The fuel pressure regulator only allows the fuel rails to hold "x" amount of pressure. Once the pressure gets too high the regulator lets some of the fuel go by, and it gets returned to the fuel tank.

Shaolin Racing 06-18-2002 10:31 AM

Gosh I learn so much here.So if you were to upgrade you're fuel lines would you really need to upgrade the Ventalation Fuel line and Return line?

Just the Main fuel line to the motor right...

The line to the charcoal cannister can stay the same. The return line can stay the same.

Call me dense here, but what's the point in having 2 pumps? Additive properties?
