Currently running street port and Pettit ECU. I will upgrade the 2ndarys to 1300's (Don't want 2nd fuel rail and resistors) and Walbro fuel pump. I am shooting for 425rwhp but would settle for 400rwhp. I want low end torque and wont boost more then 1bar on 91 octane (CA pump). I want to build an ultimate street sports car and not a had core track car.

I can't afford the GT40R this year and it will cost me money to put the twins back on, so if I can do this cheap enough why not do this now and who knows maybe not even move up to the 40R.

Does anyplace allready make a kit for this or can I just use a T3 kit?

If not, how much is a custom manifold and down pipe? ...how hard to get it made?

(looking to keep it under $500 for both)

Is 50lbs/min enough power for 400-425rwhp? Click "here"

How much to replace A/R .70 with A/R 1.06? ...is .70 too small even with a street port? Will 1.06 delay spool (AKA: increase lag) too much?

Yer links is busted.

4 threads below this one is a lengthy and detailed discussion of the pros and cons of the turbo you are looking for. Including input from someone who has made many kits using this turbo.

Linkie!

GoRacer 03-16-2004 01:10 AM

Both links work for me?

That one talks about the 35/40 and doesn't answer what i'm asking.

GoRacer 03-16-2004 01:43 AM

^ and the 40R, which I want but not my topic.

It also doesn't answer my manifold & DP questions.

Did you read ANY of it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Sean, AKA Zero R in that thread, is A-Spec, who makes almost all the 'kits' for the 35R. The connection you were SUPPOSED to draw was that perhaps he could provide you with a manifold and downpipe. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

FikseRxSeven 03-16-2004 04:24 PM

gt35r = gt35/40

yup, it said the 35/40 was the same thing as the 40R and not 35R.

You're still not helping me get any answers on the manifold and down pipe but annoying as it may be at least your giving me free bumps. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

Where does it say this?

Read your own quote for christ sakes, I already answered where you could find a manifold and downpipe.

Are we all speaking English here? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

GoRacer 03-16-2004 06:10 PM

Yeah, ZeroR/A-Spec allready sent me an email yesterday and his reply on the other thread was informative. I'm waiting for a quote from him on a kit for me.

Ask YOURSELF where 90% of your driving is going to REALLY be not where others tell you it should be, if it is nothing more than stop light to stop light a 35R is hard to beat. Spools great, hits hard, and is a blast.
Which is perfect untill a supercharged Z06 kicks my butt then it's upgrade to 40R time!

And as far as what I got out of it a 35/40 is a combination of a 35R and a 40R and is "not" the exact same thing. I've also seen the 35/40 and do not like how foward it is at all! I love the 40R kit A-Spec makes (low & rearward). That is what I want in a kit but I just can't afford it.

So basically I "want" the A-Spec GT40R but can't afford it. I can settle for the GT35R instead of slapping the twins back on and waiting another year. I don't want to get stuck with this, not use it, spend money I can't afford and then have to sell it prolly for less money.

Thanks to 94Touring, Igy and JSpecRacer7 for their help with this. I'll also be keeping close tabs on ArtGuy's project as the 62-1 seems like what I want as well (an RX6 + 50hp and $2k less).

GoRacer 03-17-2004 02:40 PM

ok, apperently the 35R is "exactly" the same as the 35/40 (email received). If one of the wheels weren't replced with one from the 40R I have no idea why the name change, but oh well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif The only thing the same is the manifold kit (old one).

So back to the original dilemna: If I can get the manifold and DP for "Cheap" then I can do this othwise I might as well just wait for the 40R at the same price. ...unles the new redisigned kit (from 40R) and the 35R is a better choice for me.

to maximize spool up you want a smaller exhaust housing. However, with a .63 a/r, your going to proly spool at idle! You want something in the area of .81~.84 for a stock exhaust port car....so a .63 is WAY too small.

Zero R 03-18-2004 11:11 AM

The manifold on the 35R kit is the same style manifold on the 40R kit they both sit in the same place, for the most part. I have updated the base flanges to 3/4 thickness as well. And made some other tiny improvements since the first few kits went out.

And so everyone can see this the 35R is the same exact turbo as the 35/40 I've been selling them for over two years and they were always called 35R the other designation is more of a street term.

lol, cool wouldn't that make the car feel more like a V8? I have a street port, supposed to be mild. I told him I wanted it to be smooth like the RX8 but I haven't inspected it yet nor driven it cause I haven't picked it up.

in a sense yes...because you'd never get above 5000 rpms.

No, it is not, it uses the same wheel from the GT40 not the 40R the term 35/40 is more of a street term

The newer 35R kit sits in the same lower and back location go look at the thread DrPJM1 started "single turbo OMG"

GT35R really starts to make power at 17psi the 40R isn't much different but will be cooler at those levels.
