Ok, I'm going to be using the GT35/40 turbo setup on my drag FC, but wanted to question most of the FD guys first since it seems to be a popular choice with all of you. Not many FCs guys run this setup, any good reason y?

Here's my Qs:

1.)Where can I find flow graphs, specs, etc on this turbo?

2.)Is it a good choice for drag w/ a 400RWHP goal?

3.)What are you general opinions on this turbo(those that have it)?

4.)Would I be better off w/ a dif GT35 series turbo?

Final.)What turbo manifold, or turbo flange does this use? I know I can have one made, but I'm wondering if there is a prefab one for sale somewhere?

Thanks for any help!

quick ? too...couldnt an FD kit be fitted to an FC w/ minor adjustments?

If you are going full drag i would go with something bigger like a greddy T88 or a turbonetics T66. I just dont' thing going bb is worth the money for just drag.

yea if its an all drag car, I would not waste the money on the BB setup.

Lol revvin...well...the car has to be driven on the street to the track, and I'd like a good streetable drag turbo. I also like being dif...i've seen t78s etc on FCs, but not a gt35/40...I'm still looking into everything, so I'll keep my options open.

I know that silver 93 made 470rwhp at 20psi and 435rwhp @15psi, so for a street/drag car thats pretty good. Hard to tell how well the manifold and everything would fit in the FC, but once you get all the stuff it can be modified with some cutting/welding if needed.

What kind of porting do you have done?

rxrotary2_7 02-09-2003 01:53 AM

i bought mine in au a little before all of the *craze* for A LOT less than it is now. would not buy it again at the *new* price. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png that is a bit steep. especialy knowing how much i got it for... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Talk to the guys at a-spec tuning, they said they already made a kit for a S5 engine in an RX-3 (maybe RX-2).

fitment on a tII motor in an rx3 and rx2 would be a bit different. which one is it for? 2 or 3?

here is a 60-1 in an rx3 of my friend Jim's (old pic)

I hear the turbo and mani workbut you'll need to run custom IC piping. Why not get a T78?

Rotaryman88 02-11-2003 10:12 AM

Like I said, I want to be different, lol. T78s are so common...but if I find a cheaper one, then thats cool. The thing is nobody really makes big turbo kits for the FC, greddy & hks have upgrades, and then all we're left w/ is to upgrade the stockers, it just isn't fair! LOL!

I hear yah. Can't you just use the FD turbos and manifolds on our engines?I thought you car.Or is the interchangability just between the RE and REW's?

1Revvin7 02-13-2003 05:55 PM

I heard you could but it would be hard, and complicated.

Rotaryman88 02-13-2003 06:59 PM

I just got an email back from a company in australia who will be making my kit, and I'm gonna see if they'll do wholesale for the 1320engineering site...that would kick ass!

cost is gonna be roughly 3300 depending on exchange rates...and i'm gonna get a polished compressor housing and new wastegate...
