i switched the springs for my greddy type r bov to a standard spring as recommended by a couple of forum members. as i was working on the car, i noticed that the spring seems too light, and stays open during idle. i can actually feel the air coming out of it.

i then adjusted the screw all the way down, and it seems that the screw is not long enough to adjust the the diaphram close.

any suggestions or ideas?

martin

the left spring is the one that came with the greddy type r, second spring came with the greddy type s, and the third spring was sent to me when i got the type s

When I changed the stiff spring out to the soft spring, I found metal shavings in the BOV. GREEEDY has crappy machining standards. Maybe you got a defective BOV.

those springs on the right are crap, I could make a better spring with a paper clip. I would double check with GR33333DY that you have the correct spring

when i openned it up, i neither found shavings and i dont think the bov is defective because i think it was working fine with the stiff spring.... it didnt open at all.. lol

should i just lower the spring adjuster to as low as it can go?

im guessing that since the coils are not as thick on the new spring i can afford to lower it all the way and it would still make a gaping hole upon decel

The standard spring is silver in color (just like the stiff spring) for the Type R. You should use the standard spring for the Type R. Simple and correct solution.
