Can someone help explain to me how to use this thing. What do I need to do in order to get it to connect the downpipe and turbo together? Cutting...welding?
i forget but your turbo has a vband flange on it right now ? if it does you just need to make a downpipe and weld the vband on it in the correct location
Ok, well I have the downpipe. I guess I have to just weld it to the downpipe.
you need to test fit it to make sure it fits and doesn't hit anything first lol
what is this? got a pix?
Well I don't have a pic of the V- band, but just looking at it i'm assuming there is going to be an issue of exhaust leakage. Heres a pic of the turbo and another of the downpipe.
my big pipe
The end up in the air is the end that will be welded to the v-band, so I assume cutting off the existing flange is nessesary. |
With the V-Band, when you first put it on, you'll need to fill the clamp up with Grease and then tighten it down. At first, you will have an exhaust leak until the V-Band warps to the turbo.

Mine had no exhaust leak at first, then the grease burned off and I had a slight exhaust leak. It took about a week and the two ends expanded/contracted to each other and now...no exhaust leak. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

we need a pic of where your right hand is on the first pic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

From the picture. I can see you need the v-clamp flange for both sides, the turbo and downpipe. I would have someone with turbo experience weld the flange to the turbo correctly. Did you get the flanges to use with the vclamp?

I don't have flanges for both sides of the v-clamp. I think i'm just going to have the guy thats going to do the welding make it work.
