This goes along with my last post about modifing or replacing my wastegate.

My Apexi single setup came with a 52 mm racing wastegate. Does anybody know what changes I'm looking at in performance by going to a 46mm wastegate. I've been told that too small of a gate will cause boost creep and too large of one will cause lag. The problem is, I don't know what's too big or too small for my setup.

Thanks

I don't think too big will cause lag. (Did you get a reason why?) It potentially could be hard on the wastegate itself, as it will have to cycle open and closed more frequently.

Yeah lag isn't really related to the size of the wastegate, but you can get boost creap with a wastegate thats too small.

Edit: just re-read your original post. Really my best opionion is just don't drive it hard in bad weather if you want more control of the car and boost. Easier way and I talk from experience with that turbo and others, use the gas pedal to control boost.

Where I got the turbo lag from was an article on the net from one of the makers on how to choose the correct wastegate. I didn't think that the lag would be increased by the wastegate.

One of the big reasons I also wanted to lower the boost for normal driving is I have a problem with "right foot control". My foot is too heavy and I like the power. My wife is with 1/2 the time while driving. I get a lot of grief over my speed from her if you know what I mean.

Thanks!
