I was entertaining the idea of turning the garrett t-76 into a hybrid t-76 ball bearing. Any down sides? Im going to call turbonetics tomorrow and talk to them about it.
It can be done
Im just wondering if it would be worth it. Like in reality, how much faster would it spool?
generally the BB turbo units spool 1,000 rpms quicker
check out the innovative dual BB setups!! |
Innovative is the ****
where can i get some info on it?
Thanks for the replies guys |
here is the site for the dual BB turbos! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

wait wait wait.. DUAL BB's?! So.. that means it would have an even quicker spool up compared to a regular BB? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png
yeah. And they aren't junk ass turbonetics bearings. They actually last.
yup , they last, i have one on my car, i love it! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
680RWHP12A- what type of turbo do you have? What's the specs on it?
GT76 dual bb q trim exhaust wheel, .96 exhaust housing
and i love it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif |
This must be a drag car. Or you're crazy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
Drag car.. so I take it the GT76 dual BB wouldn't be good for mainly daily driving or road racing?
not unless you think you can handle a 600whp daily driven 7 or road racer for that matter. Spools by, what about 4500 or 5000 on 2 rotor?
damn, i didn't know they created that much power.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png
Actually I'm shooting for around 600 rwhp, But not on the street. I'm prolly gonna go with a T70 though, those Innovative pieces are too rich for my blood right now.
I'd love to know when that bitch spools though |
my turbo is on full boost by 5,500 rpm's but remember, my car is a 12A . it should boost faster on a 13B!
a good turbo for the street , is a 60-1 turbo. it spools by 3,000 and it can make 400 horsepower easily! |
O.K. final question. How much can I get one for?
ITS rocks, go for their setups. I've had one of their smaller GTB series turbos on buicks for a while now. We've had the exhaust side white-*******-hot on 1000hp+ pulls and the turbo laughed at it. The motor was making 40psi on full-blow-your-retina-out boost and was making 24psi at around 2500rpm (road course racing motor https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ).
A 3.8 liter turbo v6 is about equal to a 13b-turbo in volumetrics and is a good comparison on spool up "time" 93 R1, expect any big single to make full boost around 4000-5500 rpm with a little 13b spinning it, if you can afford the dual bearing setup, expect 3500-4500 rpm full boost, if makes that much of a difference. ITS is the best in the world IMO, you wanna play, you gotta pay (a lot) |
GTs are ball bearing T-series? What's wrong with turbonetics?
So, how much is the 60-1 turbo kit? Or do they make actual kits?
you can build one yourself for like 2000
$2K sounds great, but I'm not so great at the whole custom and know what the **** I'm doing thing..
a dual bb turbo from innovative will cost around $3,000
I called today. A T72 dual ball bearing R trim is $2500 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png
