Finally!! I have boost control. I set the AVCR to 1 bar and did some pulls on the street data logging with my motec. I adjusted the fuel a little and everythings happy.

She will turn sideways with a hard shift to second. Actually it scared the hell out of me. I was glad I was on a super wide empty industrial road.

I am going to try to dyno it real quick before the Rotary Revolution. I am anxious to see what she is putting down.

I want to start really tweeking the AVCR. I know it will do boost based on RPM's and gear etc.. I have read the manual 3 times and the reading is really dry.

Anyone have any tips to share to help with the setup??

Thanks in advance.

My friend has had a terrible time with the AVC-R. The solenoid crapped out on him or something. I think he got a lemon.

Just out of curiosity, why doesn't your MoTeC control boost?

My Motec does control boost. Unfortunatly for me I have a M-4 and it has 4 outputs.

3 outputs are for the ignition

and the last one is for the fuel pump.

So I had four choices.

1. Buy a different Motec Unit. = big $$

2. Buy a Motec ignition controller of some sort and it can be run with 1 output freeing up 2 outputs. This would cost about $500 plus I would need to re-wire my entire ignition.

3. But a new Boost controller like a AVCR.

4. Put in a heavier wastegate spring and let the wastegate do all the work.

I decided 3 would be the best performance wise and time wise.

Jim, the best luck I ever had was using the automatic setting, since you have it figured out to 1 kilo now, set it for autolearn mode, and make 3 passes with the car over the mph equivalent of whatever the book says, if you go back to the setting screen on the unit, and you did it right there should be 3 asteriks accross the settings, it means the controller has gone into auto mode and set the best control for the wastegate to keep the boost steady through all the rpms. then you can tweak the motec for it.
