Just asking anyone with this kit

how you like it?

any issues with it?

how many miles you've put on since installing it?

how much boost?

stock ports?

Thanks

FikseRxSeven 05-23-2004 08:38 AM

arent these kits very very comparable to gt35/40? for about 1500 more?

mr.zoom 05-23-2004 08:43 AM

more likely.. although the runners looks really small to me. Plus the turbine side looks smaller than my Grand National which is a t3 foot print. It does have a big compressor

FikseRxSeven 05-23-2004 08:45 AM

you might wanna get intouch with 94touring.... im pretty sure he used to have an rx6 not sure if it was B though

mr.zoom 05-23-2004 08:57 AM

this is the only turbo kit that could get my hands on right now....

everything else is on back order...

FikseRxSeven 05-23-2004 08:59 AM

how soon do you need the turbo?

94touring 05-23-2004 10:07 AM

I had the original rx6. I'm not really sure what the difference is between the two, but the original rx6 wasn't a large turbo. Good for about 400rwhp, great spool up, and good for the street.

the only difference in the newer kits is the turbo sits lower so you can keep the air pump.

its a fun street kit, its about the same lag as the stock turbos, with a lot more grunt. i have a couple of friends who have/had the kit and theres not really been any problems with it. victors turbo is getting loud though, it sounds like bad axle bearings or something, wierd

Well engine coolant temps aren't effected by turbo's really. As long as your coolant system is 100% its gona run the same either way. It does make the engine 'bay' temps lower, and perhaps the intake temp charges lower a little bit as a result.

Just by looking, it seems that it will be choking the motor and collects the heat where the manifold and the turbine meets

any of the wastegates failed fron excessive heat?

yes, its recommended you either have the apex wg sent out of a valve job, or get an hks or tial

replace the diaprahm or bore it out???

Which HKS 50mm racing??

Again thanks

apexkw 05-24-2004 10:07 AM

the older apexi wg used a brass fiting inside the wg. they replaced it with a stainless one. i have an rx6a and its a great little turbo for the street. here is a link to where i had a recent dyno run. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/ind...howtopic=40259

how much boost where you running??

also does the RX6B come with the stainless steel bushing?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

thanks

apexkw 05-25-2004 10:36 AM

14 psi on a stock port motor. i dont know if the rx6b does or not. i would assume apexi has changedd all their wg's to the new piece. i mean come on it wouldnt be good for their rep if they sold parts that blow up motors. i would call and ask apexi to see if they have fixed it though.

94touring 05-25-2004 04:14 PM

I never had any problems with the wategate on mine. I only ever heard of a few cases that it was an issue.

Called the mand ask

part numbers with 710 are the older ones (RX6A) and the 720 are the RX6B

he said the RX6B have the SS bushings, although I don't have any confidence in the way he answered that question ...

Does this turbo looses its effeciency after 15psi???

94touring 05-26-2004 08:12 AM

Looses affeciency after 18psi, from what I could tell.

apexkw 05-26-2004 08:39 AM

i believe it is the rx6a that looses it after 18 while the rx6b goes higher. not sure though as i dont have a rx6b and i have yet to see a dyno for one. from what i understand the a hits about 400whp and the b is suppossed to be good for 500whp.. but once again i have never seen anyproof of that.

mr.zoom 05-27-2004 10:20 AM

Since Iam told that there are no other single turbo kit available in NA,

I'm going to get this one. Everything is back order for months!

1300s should be enough for fuel right?? get it tuned to run 15psi

apexkw 05-27-2004 01:32 PM

i am running the 1300's right now. they have about 20k on them and i am going to switch to the 1600's just because.

mr.zoom 05-28-2004 08:00 AM

thanks for all the input guys

but I won't be buying this kit due to some cumshots that thinks they could rip me off so I'll sit here and play with my grand national turbo until the TO4S kit start coming out.

TYSON 05-28-2004 08:11 AM

What did the price change to? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

mr.zoom 05-28-2004 11:04 AM

Tyson,

I was going to get it from another member of the evil forum. My initial understanding was $4200 CDN cash! That changed to 4200 US

went to see steve, took us (me and wife) a long time to decide. 52KCDN taxes in. Eveidently, he lent it to the same guy who was selling it to me for 42KUS

So I said Bub BYE!

It is hard to find a good retailer of parts, too many crooks in the aftermarket business...But I need to find another

TYSON 05-28-2004 11:42 AM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif You'd be driving it by now!
