When I wake up in th emorning and finish with breakfast Im taking my car to the shop. Its all hooked up and ready to go. I'd like to do some forward thinking and find out what kind of tranny to get thats reasonably priced and trustworthy for a n/a if I end up having a done tranny. . Im not looking to run a quarter mile at a strip mind you.



as well, other than atkins what is another reputable company that does rebuilds, or sells them rather.

Unless you are putting down some serious power I wouldn't worry, if you do blow that one, consider a t2 tranny.

 

Yah I have know clue on the tranny. I wouldn't doubt it being still stock. when I bought the vehicle total mileage was 131,006. Original engine.

 

The n/a trannies blow ***, make sure they use the MAZDA syncros, there was a recall back in the late 80's because the 2nd gear syncro sucked, just make sure you get the MAZDA upgraded syncros. And the tranny should last much, much longer, and change the gear oil even year, just to keep it clean and shifting smooth.

 

so what your saying is they made no changes to the trannies, up till the recall? Wouldn't they have figured it out and done something quicker than going say 4 or 5 years with the problem?

 

I am now on my third NA tranny Im am actually replacing one sunday. This one didnt last two months with the new motor in the car.

 

Back int he 80's Mazda, was going tdown the tubes, they neded to save money.

 

its actually a bulletin, and it came out around 87-88ish, then the 89-91 trannies are a little better, and so on

 

alright is there way or tchnique to help prolong a 7's transmission , Im not looking at it right now but I thought some one earlier in this thread said to once a year change out the t fluid and stuff.
