I am really trying to get my car up and going soon and I have come to yet another fork in the road. I have been looking at some liquid to air intercoolers and really like the idea. It would be fairly unique and require WAY less piping. The intercooler I currently have mocked up on the car is an ARC for a Skyline. I like it, but I am trying to keep the car looking as stock as possible on the outside. I would like to hear some opinions on whether to keep this air/air I've got, or if I should go for a liquid to air. Tell me the disadvantages/advantages of both and why. The car will not be a daily driver, but a weekend/night cruiser that will see some passes at the strip. I am shooting for 450-whp. The engine is a 1/2 Bridge 13B-RE with a ballbearing T04R turbo. Please let me know what your opnions are. Thanks in advance.

The liquid intercooler is better, but for a shorter period of time- unless you have a separate water tank plumbed into the intercooler. The air intercooler is not as effective, but will cool for a longer duration. Hope this helps-

 

What I am looking at doing if I go the liquid route is having a tank, a pump, and a separate heat exchanger (like an auto tranny cooler with a fan) that will run when the car is running, and then if I am going to be running at the strip I could fill the tank with some ice as well.

Buy the pump from a Ford lightning it has the proper flow rate.

 

That looks like a cool setup, but do I really need to run that big of a heat exchanger??? BTW, I went ahead and picked up this I/C:





well, can't get link to work but will get it up later. Its a precision turbo unit and is supposed to handle up to 1000hp, so we'll see.

no but we want over kill and that pump in the pick is BS. The Ford one is itty bitty but flows.....its designed for this.There are three of us who run this setup.

I dont know about that ebay one.You want large heat exchange areas even if water is more efficient. Like I said we did over kill.
