I've never really asked anyone about it, and I'm wanting to do it on my FC. Are there any special mods you need to do in order to fit wider tires onto the car? I know you obviously need the wider rims, but can you just slap them on the car? What are your guys' recommended sizes for wheels and tires? I think I'm gonna go with 17" rims, 18 seems like overkill and they're less likely to get ruined by potholes, etc. with that extra inch of tire...right? I'm kinda clueless and would appreciate any help

you'll need camber plates becuase big wheels increase camber.

no



and just because you get 17's over 18's doesnt mean the tire is a inch higher.



18s can fit and look good on an fc, use the right offsets

The RX-7 turbo handles best with 16" wheels & lower profile (50) tires.



With 17" wheels, you're looking at 45 or 40 profile, and that will require taking out the negative camber in the rear to get a good footprint.

You can go up to a 9 inch wide rear without rolling the fenders and a 10 inch with rolling. If you want larger than 10, you need to go widebody.



I have FD wheels on my car and they sit really nice. 16x8 with 225s.



If you want 17s, go with a 17x8 with a 235x40 tire. You will need to adjust the rear camber since its a wider wheel just as sureshot stated, needs to be less negative. I also forget what offset works the best. I think backspace needs to be less than the stock FDs, only by a little though.

why do you want wider tires? to make the car look better or perform how you want it?

wider tires make the car more stable on the side loads but less stable going straight. if you are trying to keep the stock feel to the car look into stickier compound tires instead. wider tires makes very little diffrence road grip ability wise. the contact patch changes shape, it doesnt get bigger. so you just have to choose how you want your car to behave.
