I've decided to drive the fuel truck home from work. Think 1200 gallons will last me till this is over?

I wonder if things will get desperate enough that people will start jacking them. I know I want to jack me one . If only I have somewhere to hide it.

Ours just got to $1.629/L for 98. Diesel's at it's highest in history, first time over a dollar at $1.019/L

All anyone has to do is get into an airport at night, watch out for the security guard, take a gas can up to the 100ll fuel truck, find the nozzle on the bottom that says "sump", turn the lever and fill up the can. No way of tracking it that way, don't even need the keys to the truck to turn on the pump. Not that I do that when I have access to a half dozen 50 gallon drums full of waste sumped fuel already.

Our fuel is delivered weekly, and I sump off the top of the barrels. Water and debri, what little there is, sinks to the bottom. Also AV-GAS doesn't break down like gasoline.

A vw diesel is a very good engine, I wouldn't be concerned about reliability.

So long as you don't abuse or modify a car it should stay highly reliable, so long as you do regular mantainace.
