so i recently purchased this great T2. running ac and everything! great interior and all. anyways. so im driving home from work and i feel my power steering totally give out when i get into another lane when im at a stop. so im like uhh wtf. so i turn down my music and hear this constant beeping noise, almost sounds like the beep my turbo timer makes when the cars off. but i check to make sure thats not the problem. so i finally am going to pull over and the power steering comes back perfectly fine. im not sure what it is! so i pull over anyways, no leaks, power steering fluid is full, belts new and still on there. so im like uhh ok..so every once in a while it will start beeping again and the power steering will give out..ANY ideas on what this is? note: no its not any buzzing from the dummy lights, its coming from in the dash it seems like..near where my feet are. so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. ima still try to mess with it, im wondering if maybe its electrical cuse it will be beeping when i turn my car off, then a few minutes later if i turn it back on, the PS is working fine..but i could be wrong! thanks

Problem number 2: well i had this on my NA for a little while but it seemed to go away, i want this car to be running good so i don't like having these little problems. the problem is that my speedometer started dying on me it seemed like..it would bounce up and down and not stay to steady, then it would go back to normal, well now its just completely at 0 all the time. no more bouncing or accurate speed at all. any suggestions on that? i never figured it out on my NA rx7 either. i appreciate all the help and suggestions thanks again!

so i realized its whenever the engine stays on for a while it will cut out. so when i turn it off and back on it is fine, then after a few minutes or somethin it will come back. any suggestions?

i found this on one of the forums:

if you are hearing a beeping then it's the Power Steering computer, which can be diagnosed as follows:

1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:

In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.

2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:

The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)

3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:

The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.

4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:

The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.

5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

so replace the speed sensor? any help guys? thanks

I had the same problem on my tii. I guess the P/S computer went bad. I just took it out, and ran without one. W/O the p/s computer the P/S just goes to 65% assist or some **** like that. I actually liked it better that way. If you want to try it out just disconnect the P/S plugs.

I think problem #2 is a loose speedo cable at the tranny, just about ready to fall out it sounds like. If it comes out there is a good chance you will lose the inner or drive cable.

#1: the beeping is the power steering computer, check that its connected its right under the dash below the steering wheel.

#2: thats a loose speedo cable, either at the tranny or the guage. both are a realative PITA to check.
