I went and looked at a 89 red tii, everything looks good, but it would not start. he said it running a week before, he changed 3 spark plugs, so there is an old one in there.....could that make it not start? At first I though it was flooded so I pulled the fuse and cranked on it for a wile, it acted like it wanted to start but never did. Also it was having overheating problems. He thinks it’s the water pump because the temp would start to slowly go up then drop to normal. How do u cheek to make sure that it has not hurt anything? $2000 for it as is so I that sounds like a good deal to me as long as nothing is seriously wrong.

if it over heated and then didnt start maybe it needs an engine or somesing. water seals.... one old plug wont make it not start.

give him 500 bucks. TII's are a dime a dozen when they don't run properly.

Like 88redT2 said, a compression check is your best clue.

You better budget an engine rebuild or swap.

If the body & interior are good, it might be worth $1500.

Thermostat and/or fan clutch and/or low coolant.
