Alternative Intake Manifolds?
im building up my sheet of mods for spring and looking at all the areas of the vehicle at which can and should be upgraded. generally a factory intake on any vehicle is designed for daily driving and lower horsepower number and from my own review of taking apart the intake in my last FD i didnt like the design of the intake... yes i understand that in intake design you want to incorporate a tuned length for the sonic pulses but after installing such an enormous intake tract as goes with our single turbo front mounted intercooler cars thats a LONG brutal path of twists and turns for our engines to see. I am though not interested in a manifold that is designed for some drag only specifics. I'm hoping to improve on lag, throttle response, and top end power on a vehicle that will probably be using something at over just over a 66mm turbo with a large port or a half bridge at most. what are your ideas on something easily installed that will not run up a dumbass 4000 dollar cost like i've seen people pay for a friggin piece of sheet metal they could have cut and welded themselves?

keep the manifold you have now... there is nothing wrong with it. runner lengths are not as important in our cars as it is on NA cars.
i find that hard to believe... the ports are rather small... and makes 2 90 degree turns... does anyone have a flow sheet on the stock manifolds?
bro.. you just said you you dont wanna spend the money...... and people are making 500+ hp with this manifold... spend your extra cash on a better turbo, better fuel system.
e mail keith from kgparts.com if you are really determined to get a new manifold.

We (reactive racing) are making a sheetmetal intake manifold now.
It should work with street FD's, stay tuned.
And martin, aftermarket intake mani's make a BIG difference, jaytechs have dynoed 35+rwhp with nothing else changed.

i've been building cars since i was in elementary school... I know im not dumb enough to think a manifold wouldnt make at least that on a car pumping so much air so quickly... so whats your expectations on prices? i understand the labor and research costs you but i still cant see myself buying an outrageously priced intake... jeez i remember the dumbasses paying thousands for those hogan intakes for ls1's a few years back when i was still sporting the WS6.... this sheetmetal intake of yours requires what also? is it a try bolt on or are you going to require an odd carbueration device like the holley throttle body?
well I work for him now at his 'shop'
he and the fab guy are designing the intake manifold i cannot take credit for any of it. It will use an accufab TB. I dont have an exact price, but it will not be outrageous. Hes building it for his racecar, so im not sure how he will modify it for street injector use. The first prototype should be done within two weeks...
I will be putting one on my car so we will see how that goes..
