Motor has about 40K on it... car runs GREAT when you start it up and drive around for a bit... but once the temps get up it wont hold an idle and has a hard time restarting... once restarted, again..it drives great.. pulls hard, runs a little rich but nothing too severe

It's running a microtech unit w/ the greddy turbo (no emanage)... i'm thinking it's something as simple as wrong temp plugs and they are getting fouled out after driving...

I'm not leaning towards low compression, but I'll take your thoughts. I'm going to be looking at the maps later today...

Some other things that I think may be causing it... water temp maps too rich? I could probably also adjust the fuel enrichment under cranking...

I'm just throwing out ideas... anybody have a turbo rx8 here?

what plugs are you running?

I'm not 100% as it's not my car... a buddy of mine has it and brought it by.. i'm going to start tuning it some more, but i did ask them last night when the last time they put plugs in it was and i was told "oh, it needs new ones" .... so yea... i'm leaning towards getting that done first..

I've heard of people resolving similiar issues on FI applications by changing all of the plugs to 9s...leading and trailing instead of 6 leading and 9 trailing.

Also, does the car have the updated starter? If not, that will make a huge difference. It spins the engine about 3X the speed of the orginal.

Hope this helps...

probably just the correction maps, but lots of renesis motors have hot start problems anyway.

Quickie update. The car is running NEW oem plugs, so I'm sure they are 6s & 9s... I will double check this this weekend. I made some data logs last night and the owner of the car should be sending them to me shortly to review.

It does not have the updated starter... that is one thing we kept bringing up as well. It doesn't idle when its hot and it doesnt start at all when hot unless you give it some gas while cranking...

We'll throw some plugs in it (all 9s) and then get the car to the dealership so they can throw the new starter in there and we'll see where we go from that point.

Thanks guys...

Do a compression test once the motor is fully warmed up.

A lot of the rx-8's are having this exact problem.
