It has been quiet for a while. There was so much hype a dew weeks ago during the shows, but now its dead.

Any news?

Talked to Dave at KDR this am. Mazda will be delivering RX-8 in the spring of 2002. He is trying to get a pre-production one sooner. Working with Mazda now on that. He can't wait to tear down the ne Renesis rotory engine.

I thought they just recently said 2003, or we they talking model year???

Yeah I think I read that also...unfortunately. Too long.

I'm still wondering what its 1/4 mi. times will be.

250 HP, 153 Tourque (or close to that). and 6 Spd Semi Auto tranny.

One of the car mags estimated 15.1, but I think it will be more into the mid to low 14's

We'll just have to wait.

Yea like you say, I think we'll just have to wait and see. Who knows how many more changes it will go through before it actually makes production!!!https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

A 6 Speed Manual tranny would be Nice. I'm almost certain they will have it by the 2nd year like they did with the Lexus IS 300.

Hmmm...I wonder if it would bolt up to the 13B-REW?

phinsup 10-03-2001 09:14 AM

I would thin it would fit, if not it might be a good excuse for a Renesis retro-fit!!

A topic that's near to my heart. I received a letter dated May 24, 2001 and signed by Lisa Lasky - Specialist, Customer Assistance Fulfillment - Mazda North American Operations. It says that "The all-new Mazda RX-8 is scheduled to be available in Spring 2003. We certainly do apologize that we are not able to supply any further information to you at this time, and we will expedite your order as soon as it becomes available." Visit our website, blah, blah, blah. The mazda dealers around here I am sad to say have been no help. I went straight to corporate. If the fulfillment center really wanted to "fulfill" me, they would produce the damn car! I got tired of waiting so I bought the Mariah Motorsport's 3 Rotor Twin Turbo Conversion.:wow: I'll sit back enjoy my new car and wait for the RX-8 to come out, become a little less in demand, let them work out the bugs, put a turbo on it in year three or four and then jump on it.
