Ran a dyno yesterday... Removed the aftermarket air filter as it ran too lean... So completely stock except for the HKS Legamax exhaust.....

Will post official graphs when i find time to scan it in.....

It did 160.1HP @ Wheels, 192.7HP @ Flywheel on a Dyno Dynamics "Possum Bourne Edition" dyno....

I am not too happy considering there was a JDM FE3S that did 230 @ Flywheel a couple of days ago...

WTF? I expected more than that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Ran lean? The reason why power is so down in our RX-8s is because it runs too rich after 6000 rpm. It runs below 11:1 AFR at that point. That may be fine for a boosted motor, but not on our N/A setup.

I dynoed 146 HP on Mustang Dyno stock. With a preloaded e-manage map, I ran 156 HP. Later on, with RB intake, hot spark plugs, new ECU flash, and street-tuned my own map, I managed to pull 188 HP. I averaged top end AFR to 13.5:1.

We learned from the star mazda series cars that their Renesis targeted 13.5:1 AFR (.92 - .93 lambda) at the open-loop area. Go to rx8club.com and look up the dynos everone has been pulilng.

...or you could always go Turbo https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

LoL ****, do something. 146hp https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Xyntax 11-17-2005 01:43 PM

Yep, funny **** was, everyone else's RX-8 had around 145 - 150 WHP that same day. But that's on a Mustang Dyno, which gives lower numbers than the common dynojet or others.

Umm.. with the air filter.. It was an apex'i power intake with a 4" pipe and a round weld for the MAP.... It caused it to run ard 16-17...... I was told that the guy who did my piping for the air filter forgot a piece of netting which was on the stock oil filter

When replaced with stock, it was ard 11.1.....

Anyways, here are the dyno charts..

That netting is important to stabilize the airflow going to your MAF (not MAP). Our intake is MAF-based. It was probably more than the lack of net your guy made a mistake on. Don't fiddle with stupid intakes that will only let your engine suck in hot air. I suggest you go to rx8club.com for some good info on what mods work and what doesn't. NOpistons is great for tech stuff, but they don't have much RX-8 tech here; only RX-7s.

Since u've mentioned rx8club on ur previous post, i've already been over to check it out.... I've found a wealth of info on that site... Thanks for the recommendation...

I was pissed off when i found out about the air filter lol.... My car's going to a reputable shop now! I am not putting the air filter back on, as i am going boosted. Greddy kit arrive here in 2-3 weeks from japan... At the same time, an HKS SQV B-off, Profec-B II and some defi guages are going in.. So looking forward to it....
