I just placed an order on a sunlight silver, sport package RX-8. It should be here in July. I can't wait to get my hand on the car and start making a bunch of products for it. =)

The first product will be a widebody kit. That will be an eye-opener for sure. I should be making either a supercharger kit or a turbo kit for it as well. The rest will be more common intake, exhaust, suspension that sort of things. Wish me luck. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Low HP and low torque? That's what force induction is for. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Mazdaspeed? Didn't I mention I have a set coming in already? I am going to make those in urethane. "Better but cheaper" is one of my company's slogans. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Interior (90 points):

The interior is roomy. The front seats are very supportive and pretty stiff. The gauge cluster is designed by Defi so it has the Defi BF look kind of. Mazdaspeed also makes a dash pod to accept 3 Defi BF gauges. The gauge also changes color when you turn on the headlights.

Exterior (85 points): The opening of the front bumper is so much bigger compared to the 3rd gen. The radiator is about 25% bigger as well. So the car is less likely to overheat. So far so good. The best part I like about the car is the HID headlights. They are 1000% better than the stock 3rd gen. So much peripheral lighting. The low beam is HID and the high beam uses the H9 bulbs. So far I only know the Hella 90mm lights using the H9 bulbs so I suspect the headlight is actually made by Hella.

Suspension (80 points): The ride is pretty smooth, not too stiff. It rides between the Lexus GS400 and BMW 330i. The handling is pretty nice but still not as good as the 3rd gen. It still sticks to the road pretty well though. I don't know if it will be a fair comparision because I am comparing it with my 3rd gen which has GAB Rev II coilover and super stiff springs (750 lb/in and 600 lb/ in). I don't have any stock 3rd gen to compare to.

Braking (90 points): Mazda upgrade the brake booster so it holds more vacuum. The braking is very nice even though the front caliper only got 2 pistons. It brakes better than a 3rd gen stock brake.

Performance (75 points): It's not as fast but the power band is smooth. It does not have that surge of power found on a turbo car.

Cool factor (90 points): This car turns heads, just like a 3rd gen. When I drive it on the road, everyone is looking at it. Even a 350Z wanted to ride along side with me so he can look at my car.

Conclusion: It's a sports sedan. It's comfortable to drive and you can have fun with it. You can turn it into a race car if you are willing to spend some money.

That's it for now. More to come.

When can I buy an SC, exhaust, pullies, intake, etc?

Do you have a timeline for those products?

Within 2 months, the intake and pulley kit will be out. The supercharger kit will take longer to develop. There are other factors to address such as fuel management, ignition, etc.

I put the car on the lift and took some pix.

Go to http://www.rotaryextreme.com/projectcarrx8.html

to see all the pix. They are huge so be patient for them to downlaod.

Here is one

http://www.rotaryextreme.com/projectrx8/10.jpg

What interesting things I found out:

The rear axles are thicker than the FD ones. This is pretty strange because RX-8 has much less HP and torque.

The driveshaft is made of carbon fiber which I already know but it's nice to see it and confim.

The motor mounts are on the sides now.

Oil pan is bigger but shallower than the FD one. The engine sits lower than FD.

There is no space for turbo, at least not a big one. Maybe a T28.

The front brake caliper is huge but with only one big piston. somtimes.

All the shocks are made by Tokico. I prefer Bilstein like the JDM FD's but I guess Mazda tries to save some money.

The wheel should have an offset about +50mm. You can fit larger wheels. There is about 2" in the back between the shock and the wheel. The front is about 1.5" space. I use a tape measure so it might not be the most accurate. Don't quote me on this.

The oil coolers on there are huge. At least 35% bigger than the FD ones. It looks like the size of my 25 row oil cooler for the FD.

The fuel tanks are made of plastic. Cool. I hope I don't hit a bump and put a hole on the fuel tank.

That's it for now. More to come.
