Help Rx8 being a pain!!

Hi All!

Recently my Rx8 has been playing up! The cat converter was put back (for MOT purposes) the following day the check engine light came on and it kept cutting out every time I stopped. Mazda said it was the crankshaft (eccentric) sensor and tried to charge me a fortune for a new one. I took it to another garage they changed oil, filters basically cleaned/flushed it out and so far so good no light no cutting out. Although I have noticed that it idles lower than before under 1k-750 rpm and it takes longer to start from hot, could this be due to the crankshaft sensor issue? Will putting my down pipe back on (which I've been meaning to do since the MOT) help at all? or is it something completely unrelated?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Well I can tell you that my car was having hot start issues so I cleaned the ess and things got better. 2 or 3 cranks and the engine would start hot or cold

From my experience in traditional engines if it has a crank sensor and I'd hard to start hot the sensor is the first place to start putting ur cat back would have caused the eng temp to rise which transfers heat to all the parts it's not a huge amount like ur over heating but the temps of the metal of the block it warmer which will cause a failing sensor to show it's ass as my friends here in the south east like to say. If u can swap it out or try to clean it and rest it. And see if that helps and put back ur delete down pipe lol. Thankfully when I delete those things I don't have to worry about that.
