Sweet huh?

man that thing is trashed
|
i dont see a problem.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
|
We were out gassing up his car at the time so we drove it about 5 miles back to his house with the front rotor cussing a screamin the whole way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

That same thing happened to Stan at SDJ. When the RX-8 first came out he got a motor from the dearler, brought it back to the shop and broke it down and did some mods to the inside to see what kind of power we could get from it. Well, we never did see any power cause the damn thing blew up. It did the same thing yours did.
Can these motors have internal mods done, I couln't tell. I'll stick with the ol' 13B, thank you |
Put some S5-6 turbo rotors in there and stop messing around with high CR and boost.
|
wow..... i've seen blown motors but that looks like someone poured some metal shavings into the intake...
did you guys pinpoint the reason of the motor blowing up? |
wow cool. i think i see a mazda reman in your future
|
hummm.... ill give you $5 for that front plate
|
it'll buff out.
seriously, that fucker just ate the apex seal. you could probably fit Cletus' dick in those grooves. |
Damn...that engine didn't have much mileage did it?
|

less then 10k on the engine!!
|
nice one!

We were talking about this last night...
When a 13b spits an apex seal, the chunks are more-or-less forced out the exhaust right away, but with a rennie, the seal chunks are more likely to make a couple of revolutions before coming out the side. |
Either way the housings get fucked.....the Rennie's just get more fucked up..... |
thats true, i hadnt thought of that. thats a good reason why the renesis wont be a good candidate for FI except for the people who can take the risk of having to replace the turbo, housing, and rotor everytime you blow a seal. With the previous engines you at least have a chance of not trashing everything. |
I already re-assmebled the engine. It has to go back to Mazda for the core exchange. |
what happened with the payment on the engine? are they letting you do anything with the warranty?
|
No but it was worth a shot. With the new engine I get 12K to blow it up no questions asked!!!!
|
kaboom!!!!!...2 much timing advance under boost.
|
Wow. I ain't never seen a rotor that screwed before. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png
Except we were not boosting it when it broke. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
So Ryan, you gonna give it another try, and use that new interceptor ems? I bet it'll work good.
|
Nope, selling the rx-8 to make room for a slightly used 1993 rx-7 owned buy a little old lady.
funny part is, most of the times a seal is broken, it happens after the detonation. at idle or cruising. not under a load.. basically after the fact. |
I don't think I'll get another RX8 again....my next project will be some kind of Turbo RX7, either a 1st gen, or a nice S5.......car payments suck....
That is a possibility but we will never know if that was the case and I wonder how you tell if there is the case? I'm curious to know how one determines that exactly? |
All back together and running.
|
I found some of your apex seal in my yard.
Good thing the FE rotors are like 1/4th the cost of FB/FC/FD rotors |
Yeah, my engine popped when i was cruising in vacuum.
