thats funny. some of the older 12a's you can check with the engine running, but ive never tried the rx8.
also the rx8 doesnt like to be overfilled, if anything it should be a little below the full mark, we've done a couple where it got a little overfull, and oil gets sucked into the intake system |
what that mechanic has said is a down right lie. the proper way to check the oil on a rx8 is to let the engine sit for a few minutes after it was run, need to let the oil settle in the pan from both coolers and also the catch tank. the coment that tech said is the reason i was so forward with my rotary guys, you should know that lol. i would like to find out the dealership where that guy works at and punch that tech in the mouth for being so flippin stupid!

I'm amazed that he hasn't had any problems if he has really had his oil changed there every 3K and the same mechanic has been doing it!!

overfilling will also cause the car to stumble, or hesitate under acceleration. The original delaer I bought the car from did my servicing, until they put almost a quart of extra oil in. They remedided the problem, because I did not get 1/2 mile before realizing something was very wrong. I am amazed at what some of the service techs think and say.

well, I don't know if I want some of them driving my car either. Another experience, at the same dealer, the service tech smoked my tires and my clutch leaving the service bay...and the explanation I got was, he has a bad leg, and does not drive manual transmission cars very well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.gif So don't let him drive my F'n car I told him. My oil change and tire rotation were on the house on that trip.
