Default Clutch Kaboom

New owner of 08 RX8. I traded a 1991 300zx for this beast. When I got it the previous owner installed a new clutch and master cylinder, but had a lot of issues bleeding the clutch. I figured, they are a pain, but hey, I have done many so how hard could it be. Oh have I learned. These are a PITA!!!!!

Well, after bleeding over a couple days at close to 10 hrs, I know I got all the air out. Had my wife push in the clutch and it had solid movement, but still would not disengage the clutch. So this morning I tried to attach a strap and pull it until it disengaged, it never did. The clutch fork was out as far as it would go, So I knew it was something internal. After taking out the trans and the clutch, I found the issue real fast.

This is a brand new clutch, 0 miles. It is a competition clutch stage 1. It had the 6 puck disk. Sounded really nice, really wanted to drive it and see how it worked. I guess I will never know. Now, I am not sure if the kid that installed it, wasn't a shop and before I took vehicle, either installed it just dead wrong, forced something, or its a manufacture defect. But, I have never seen something like this before. In all my years, working in a diesel shop, 4 300zx one TT with 400+ hp, an rx7 TII, an 04 rx8, many civics, subi's, etc...Either way someone royally screwed up. Give me your thought..

Now before anyone says, why did you trade from a 300zx. First off it was a project, it still needed a lot of work. The body was in good shape, I had a vh45de engine I was going to install, but between my Jeep and old ford for work, Im just tired of working on vehicles. But yet here I am replacing a clutch for a 8. Not what I planned, but better shape, newer, more creature comforts. Love the design and honestly missed my 04 8. I know the Z has a lot more potential for HP, but I am over that and just want a car I can just enjoy the drive. I know I got the better end of the deal, but if you ask someone that doesn't know or understand a rotary, they would say I got screwed. Im still very happy even with the clutch issues.
