You can get paints like that from specialty shops,

House of Kolor is one of them. Mazda didnt make and doesnt

make thier own paint, so they get it from someone, being as they

are owned by Ford and Ford uses BASF I would look to them.

BASF is the same comany as R-M as well. Ford used BASF for the

mystic paint job on that Cobra Mustang in 1996 and in 2000.

Cant put a pic in here so I cant show you.

thanks rob..... you just got my hopes up again

trick would be to try and find out who built/modded the car for the show

and ask them.

look at some color charts for those paints its actually tiles that are painted in the color, not a tiny 1" square like normal color charts. You are bound to find something you like.

Expect to pay at least $500 a quart or so, even more for some of the more dramatic effects. Normal basecoats are about $50 a quart, Im giving shop prices, and you still have to get a base and pay for clear.

how much would innocent blue mica cost per quart...........

thank god rx7's are small cars

I gave shop prices, I would say for a consumer expect to pay about $500 for the color and clear, give or take a bit depending on what brands and line from that brand. There is cheap PPG, expensive PPG, cheap DuPont, expensive DuPont, etc..

Blue mica shouldnt any more then any other mettallic, unless they feel like ******* with you.

Rob x-7 02-06-2003 10:11 PM

$500 for enough for the whole car, again-give or take.

FikseRxSeven 02-06-2003 10:17 PM

if thats the difference in cost....... then im stickin with innocent blue mica...... and i dont want any of you to help me find out the color cuz that will just tempt me to go for it with whatever i have in my bank account

FikseRxSeven 02-06-2003 10:18 PM

hahahha, im turning into a ricer after my accident.......... my engine is bone stock except for an exhaust, and the outside is gunna look hooked up as hell

Last cars I painted:

I paid about $500 for my paint, but the clear I used cost me $225 for the kit and I pay 5% over cost, its DuPonts top of the line clear, and the car is 2-tone.

The vert I just painted cost me MUCH less because I did it in single stage polyurethane.

Im not including primers in the costs either.
