After test driving 3 different 8's I am planning on buying an RX-8 and keep my 7 as a project car. All my non-rotor friends are telling me to NOT buy the first year, but to wait for the 2005 models. Any 8 owners want to dispell this or talk me out of it? Timing is pretty important here cause I am buying a house. If I decide to buy a 2004 I will need to do it before my mortgage gets reported to my credit report say before March. I would prolly be in better shape financially if I waited but DAMN 8's are sexy!!! Does anybody know when Mazda is releasing the 2005 models? I think it is June/July but I am not sure...

I am planning on getting a yellow 8 with ground effects package, sunroof and tint the windows to 5-10%. Yellow looks so tight when it is tinted.

I am going to bump this up cause I close on my house soon and need advice. This car is tempting me so...

well they havent really had any issues with the car except the oil pan, and they fixed that.

well, during the first year or so, aren't any problems fixed by the dealer for free anyways?

One problem in the first model year? Not ******* bad!! My parent's toyota corolla had more recall notices than that...

I've had mine for 6 months and havent had any issues with it. My oil pan was good, and all thats been done are oil changes and tire rotation. Dunno about other cars and their first years, but this one has been solid for me.

Oh wait, the aluminum trim on the driver doorsil lifted off the sticky tape. however, a new strip of 3M sticky tape fixed that in 3 seconds.

I have had my car since 10/20 and am loving it. So far I have had the passenger side air bag clip replaced (recalled), center console cd storage cover was replaced (little plastic thingy come out), my e-brake handle had a small piece break off in the cold (-25*+ F), and the ECU has been reflashed. None of these things are major and all of it is covered under warranty for the first 4 years/50,000 miles.

It's 48,000 50 months on all Mazda's.
