My impression:

Styling and looks aside...

Besides not having nearly as much power (to be fair my RX7 puts out 315rwhp) the RX8 seems better in every other way. Great ride and handling, quiet, practical and still pretty quick.

I'll agree with this except the handling part. It does handle great but not as good as my car. [/quote]

stock for stock?

You also have to take into consideration that you have been driving your car for a long time. You know exactly how she is going to react, driving a different car may seen a little foreign.

I'm not going to go into many details, but I love my Rx8.

Well I don't own one, but my dad does have a Mazda Dealership https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png . So I got to put the car through its paces. It is an REALLY nice car. I have never been in or driven an RX-7 so I can't really compare it but my friends dad who has owned every gen RX-7 along with 300ZX, Supra, and now NSX about others, said he liked the car A LOT! It reminded him a lot of his past 7's. I would recommend the car highly, but I would choose an STi over a RX-8 anyday. I guess it just depends on what you like. The STi is more race oriented (no radio!), and the RX-8 is more suitable for daily driving. It handles excellent, has good go up top, and sounds incredible (https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif :RX-8 exhaust note:) Go test drive one, but then drive an STi https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif .

I agree with Dreamer on this one, I have test driven the RX-8, the Impreza STi and Lancer Evolution and if you want to beat the pants off people on the street, go with the STi. Subaru was serious making that a race machine. Personally I like the RX-8 the best, I could use it as a daily driver, it has enough pep to it to beat some wannabe's and looks hella cool. I like the seats the best in the RX-8, although the STi's are not bad. I was kinda dissapointed with the Evo though, took a little too long for the turbo to kick in. Fortunatly I got to test drive the 8 and Evo on some windey roads, and I can tell you the 8 handles like a dream. 50/50 weight balance does make a difference! But again, if you want raw power and loads of it, go with the STi, it's about the same price. Just pulling out of the parking lot I almost got thrown out of the car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Can't go wrong with the RX-8's freestyle doors though, I just gotta make it till next October and I get myself a fully loaded one.

I drove the 8 two weeks ago. I went into the dealership not liking the cars at all, but my gf loves them. neways, took it out, and i really really liked it, the styling of the outside is slowly growing on me, but the interior is great, and it rides great, handles great, and overall feels like a comfortable car. Its a great cross for sport/everyday use. The only thing its missing is the spooling of turbo's. I am considering it when i get outta school as a daily driver. Very practical car, with the best of both worlds.

Hmmm, about the same price? I had an STi on order fall of last year. A friend of mine, who knows I really like the RX-7s, told me about the RX-8, so I investigated further. I checked out all the vital stats of the 8, chassis, hp, suspension, and price. Compared to the STi the RX-8 seemed like a steal. With the options I wanted my 8 weighed in at $28,300, compared to the STi at $31,000, not to mention the insurance difference. I told my Subaru dealer that I did not want to pay over $29K before the pricing came out. He said they should meet that mark and maybe a bit less to compete with the EVO, nope, never happended. So I placed an order for and RX-8 on Jan 7th and cancelled my STi order. So for $3K less I have; rotary power, superior chassis design, suspension, a stereo, and damn sweet looks. I test drove the STi anyway, the dealer was cool about it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. The only thing the 8 lacks is power compared to the STi, everything else the 8 is better. For the $3K difference I think I can make up for the power, of course no AWD launch (vosko could make up for that, he says he shifts "mad quick yo"). The STi is cool, but for $31K it's overpriced.

Other then that...not worth the money. But I am super picky when it comes to cars, and I have never driven one. Sat in it, turned it on, and played with the buttons. Thats about it!

How can you say it is not worth the money if you have never driven it??!?

Hahaha....I just got back from the Mazda Dealer!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

I drove a fully loaded grand touring version. It was a pretty bad ass car. I have to take back what I said about it not being worth the money cause I went to the Nissan dealer and saw the cost of the Z's.

The car drove really nice. THe clutch was alright...but the handling was out of this world. It sounded great! Actually might even buy one when I get in the NAVY. I will need a DD. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
