I’ve decided to sell my RX-7. I’ve owned the car since November 2001, and invested a lot of love and money during my period of ownership. The biggest expenditure was for engine and turbos, after a clogged fuel filter caused a catastrophic blow up. In the car now is a street ported motor with 3mm apex seals. I was very careful breaking in the motor, totally avoiding boost for the first 1000 miles. I recently put it on a wideband equipped dyno, and got 305rwhp at 0.75kg/cm2 and mid-10’s a/f. There’s probably potential for another easy 30-40rwhp with higher boost and more aggressive tuning.
The chassis is coming up to 123000 miles, but the motor has been in the car for less than 3000 of those miles. Being a daily driver, the paint has picked up rock chips, dents, and scratches commensurate with a 10-year old car. The car is in great mechanical condition, the only issues are a leak somewhere in the air conditioning system, the M2 water temp gauge not working (I just look at Power FC Commander for water temp), and worn rear tires. This car is an awesome performer, benefiting from modifications not only for power but also handling and braking. Just take a look at the full mod list: Mods Engine/Drivetrain: Street ported motor with 3mm apex seals Power FC with Commander, custom tuned by SR Motorsports (new with engine) PFS intake PFS intercooler Efini Y-pipe Rebuilt stock twin turbos (installed with engine) Ported wastegate PFS downpipe Borla XR-1 midpipe PFS catback exhaust Mazda Competition motor mounts Pettit short shifter Centerforce Gold dual friction clutch with Mazda Competition flywheel Rebuilt transmission with upgraded 5th gear synchro Unorthodox Racing pulleys PFS silicone vacuum lines 20B fuel pump (new with engine) K&N washable billet aluminum fuel filter relocated to under hood Taylor 8mm spark plug wires J&S knock sensor with monitor Crane HI 6D ignition amp Mazda Competition radiator Pettit aluminum AST New thermostat, water pump, oil metering lines, knock sensor all installed with engine Suspension/Brakes: Cusco front tower brace PFS front and rear sway bars Koni adjustable shocks PFS springs Mazda Competition sway bar mounts M2 trailing arms and toe links Unobtanium bushing set (T 6/6 nylon bushings front, rear and diff) Front Wilwood big brake upgrade with Superlite calipers, slotted/vaned rotors, Wilwood Polymatrix pads (pads just fitted) Stock front brakes Rear Powerslot slotted rotors with Hawk HP+ pads (pads just fitted) SSR Integral wheels 18x8 f, 18x9 r with Yokohama AVS Sport tires 235/40-18 f, 275/35-18 r Stock wheels with Kumho V700 Victoracer tires 225/50-16 Body/Interior: FASPAC Racing vented carbon fiber hood with Sparco pins Sparco PRO 2000 seat with Sparco 5 point harness Kirk Racing rollbar PFS boost gauge PFS inlet air temp gauge M2 dual function water temp / fuel pressure gauge HKS turbo timer ICE: Kenwood Excelon CD headunit with remote Rockford Fosgate 6.5 separates in doors JL Audio Triax 6x9 in panels behind seats JL Audio 10” subs x2 in custom enclosure with MTX 5400 Gold Series amp The car is located in Redmond, WA. Oh man, that kinda sucks you are going to sell your car. I thought your car was pretty damn cool. If I had some extra cash I would love to be the owner. I see a Porsche in your future

I'm not sure what I'll buy to replace the FD. Wife says it's time for a more "sensible" car.
|
Well you could always take a little bit of the money you get from the car and buy a TII to Autocross in. It would be cheaper to mod than the FD.
|
that's a damn good deal!
