So the GTU is now mechanically sound, and as much as I would have liked to keep it. I am not in that sort of situation anymore.. Too many projects, not enough funds.

The car just passed smog perfectly, no issues. Clean Title.

So here's the info on it:

ODO 169,300 miles Engine has about 60,000. It came out of a RX-7 that was T-boned about 2 hours from my house. The guy runs a rotary shop and it had great compression. So I dropped it in and it runs perfect, just like the guy said it would. ( I was worried from all those bad stories about buying motors from people..)

New items:

WATER PUMP and gaskets

Vac hoses, fuel hoses, fuel filters, plugs, wires, grounds.

Battery

New Tires ($300)

Motor Mount

Rubber shifter boot. (part that keeps fumes out of the cabin)

Thermostat and Thermostat housing

Heatercore hoses from block to firewall.

Coolant line from rear iron to TB for warmup proc. (This has a tap in it for the aftermarket temp sensor.)

Misc larger hoses (vac, air pump etc.)

Liquids: Oil (20w50), coolant, brake, clutch, tranny and rear end fluids have all been changed.

Aftermarket Gauges: Autometer Oil Pressure, and Coolant Temp sensor.

Coolant temp is taken from the rear iron hose to TB before the thermostat.

Oil Pressure has a Racing Beat adapter. This has a manual oil pressure gauge tapped directly below the filter. As well as the autometer sensor.)

Bonez Hi-Flow cat. (Cat is about 8months old. I used it to smog the Turbo II and took it off... been sitting since then.. Cat has only seen about 30 miles of rotary heat.)

Things to note:

There are a few vac hoses I didnt replace, those are on the solenoids. Easily able to be replaced if broken. However they were not leaking and you risk breaking the solenoids if you try and pull them to replace the hose... So don't fix it if its not broken eh? I needed them to pass CA smog, you may not depending on where you live. All vac lines below the plennum have been replaced, fuel hoses and all as well. Plennum gaskets have been replaced as well.

TPS was adjusted to spec. Perfect idle...(Puts my TII to shame in the idle field.)

On the aftermarket sensor temps have never gone above 180.

The bad:

AC needs rubber/gasket for the lines to connect to the pump. I didn't get a chance to get around to it. Most people rip out AC anyways... I just left it all alone... (I like my AC!)

Small dent in passanger side wheel well area near passanger door. (right between the two panels.)

Crappy quick bondo job by me which will need to be sanded down and sprayed over. (It was raining when I got the car, water was leaking down on the bare metal from a previous impact and starting to rust. So I stopped it.)

So a painting will be needed.. Its been painted before in some spots you can see from the different shades of red...

Antenna mast is broken. (Little plastic mast inside metal which runs on the motor has snapped.. VERY common in RX-7's)

Stock stereo's display no longer works and one speaker appears to be blown. (Blah 10 years+ stereos should be tossed anyways.)

Rubber seal is ripped slightly on drivers side. its not leaking though.

(Mostly cosmetic stuff in my eyes...)

Anyways if you want to talk about it feel free to email me.
