1987 RX-7 GXL 2+2 Manual Gold Sunroof

I am not an expert by any means, but I loved my RX-7, so please forgive me if I don't understand the lingo or terminology. Unfortunately I must part ways with my RX-7 to make room in the garage and also because when I retire in about 5 years, I will not be able to take it with me. For starters, the original engine blew on 01/28/2004, ironically the anniversary of the Challenger disaster. My mechanic told me the apex seal ruptured/failed and I would need a new engine. At the time I did not have the funds but thought I would eventually get around to it. It has been covered and sitting on blocks in my Maryland garage ever since.

NON-Turbo, Not a convertible. The body is in very good condition, small signs of rust here and there. The tires were fairly new at the time and have plenty of tread, but after 14 years I cannot guarantee them. The rims are original. Up to the point the engine blew, there were no mechanical issues. 5 speed manual transmission and original clutch. There is approximately 103,000 miles on the engine. I was the second owner having purchased the RX-7 from a Massachusetts dealership in 1989. Original owner traded it in. Gold exterior/Maroon interior with cloth seats, some cracks in the vinyl seat trim. There is a factory installed OEM sunroof and I did have a rear spoiler installed (GTU version I think) where as the GXL version didn't come with that option but don't quote me on that. It also has fold up rear seats. Everything in the dashboard was working at the time, including the CD/cassette player. The vehicle was well maintained up to the point the engine blew (although I wish Mazda told me the Apex seal was due for replacement). Other than the rear spoiler, no upgrades were made to the vehicle (i.e. suspension, exhaust, etc.). Vehicle will be sold AS-IS with no guarantees what so ever.

The RX-7 is garaged in Columbia, Maryland 21046. Buyer will be responsible to have tires mounted to rims, then installed on vehicle, then trucked away. Price is negotiable and asking for $2,000 (CASH ONLY). Feel free to ask any questions. I will try to post pictures ASAP but will take some time as the RX-7 is literally at the center of a large junk pile in my garage and will take time to clean up.

This is really interesting! Is it still for sale?

If so, could you supply some pictures?
