Rare 1975 Factory Mazda Rotary Pickup: These trucks are getting harder and harder to find, especially on the east coast. Many people never even knew that Mazda produced a rotary powered pickup. This is a small pickup like a Chevy LUV, Ford Courier, Toyota and Datsun pickups of the same vintage. Even though it is small it has a gross payload capacity of 1400 lbs. Approximately 15,000 of these trucks were built for the U.S. market only from 1974 to 1977. This pickup has these parts with less than 500 miles on it... Upper and lower ball joints Inner and outer tie rods Rubber bushings, sway bar, control arms, etc... Front shocks Front rotors Front calipers Front brake hoses Front windshield Rear brake drums Rear brake shoes Upper and lower rear brake cylinders Tires New aftermarket door seals Window wing seals Chrome gas cap with / key Master cylinder rebuilt The dashboard was cracked badly and is now being reupholstered The front of the pickup was disassembled, took off fenders, hood, master cylinder, bumpers, etc... The engine bay and surrounding metal areas was stripped to bare metal. The bare metal was etched, POR15 primer, and POR15 epoxy followed by the original factory blue paint. The bed was painted with POR15 to protect it from the elements. The bad: Engine was blown, the reason for all the parts being less than 500 miles on them. The engine lost oil pressure and spun bearings and destroyed the rotor housings. So the pickup has no motor. The body has its dings and dents from over 30 years of service, but it can be repaired easily. There are about SEVEN factory rotary pickups in the tri-state area, Mass: 2, CT: 3, Long Island: 1 NY: 1. Not many of these around and when this pickup was drivable it was turning a lot heads. Its a great solid truck offered at a great price and the best part its located on the east coast. Most of these trucks are located on the west coast.
