For sale is a 1974 Rx-4 Coupe with 111K miles that I purchased a couple of years ago from the original owner.

After purchasing the vehicle, in order to make it into a daily driver the carburetor and clutch slave/master cylinders were rebuild using OEM Mazda rebuild kits.

The Rx-4 is currently in storage due to it only running on one rotor. This should be an easy fix if you know what you’re doing. The engine is a factory (new at the time) 13b rotary engine installed by the dealership about 20,000 miles ago. The exhaust leaks yet works well enough, but needs to be replaced if this is intended to be a daily driver.

The original owner had air shocks installed in the rear to reduce bounce. I have an aftermarket front sway bar and kits to improve the steering and handling but have not had them installed. The wheels are custom manufactured magnesium rims. The tires are Z800 performance tires with less than 1000 miles on them and still under warranty at Les Schwab. There is a full size spare that is located in the trunk.

The body is in good condition for its age. There is little rust where you would expect it from a 33 year old vehicle driven in this climate. The body is straight with the exception of two minor dents that are easily fixable. All of the glass is in great shape with except for the windshield that has a spider web crack and will need to be replaced. All chrome is present and in excellent condition.

The interior is in good condition, what you would expect of a two owner vehicle. The front seats have a little bit of wear and only a couple of small tears. The rear seat is in great shape except for where the padding has become exposed at the headrests. The headliner has shrunk and become torn in the rear and so will need to be mended, removed, or replaced.

I have had an immense amount of joy working on and driving this vehicle and will miss it very much, but am getting ready to go back to school and need the extra $$. This vehicle has a great amount of potential and so I am selling it at a low price hoping a rotary enthusiast can restore it. Please contact me via email for pictures or contact information if you are interested. All reasonable offers will be considered.

Finally, I also have a 1973 four door Rx-2 in storage that I will part with at the cost of the storage fee. This car has a good deal of time & materials to be put into it but has great potential or could be used as a parts car.

This vehicle is located near Boise, Idaho.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I had believed that a local man with a solid plan to restore the Rx-4 was going to make the purchase last week. Unfortunately, for him, he was unable to do so. If you are still interested, please reply with a phone number and a convenient day/time I may contact you. I'll try to upload more pictures Saturday.

Thanks,

The other Kevin.
