I got an automatic FD 1993 and if anybody out there has a intsrument panel that works good and has between 83k and 86k miles on it. I would like to trade you for mine. Mine has 62350 miles on it and to trade the car in they will not give me enough because they say it has unknown miles. I had replaced it last year when the odometer went out.

If anybody knows how to correct the mileage that would even be better. I also got the old one that works well but doesn't have any mileage reading ($50) if anyone is interested.

i'm pretty sure that this is illegal, and i doubt anyone is even going to be interested in this

If you dont plan on selling the car it is ok. If anybody knows of where to send it or who can adjust my mileage let me know. Please.

A little pricey there and I dont think it says RX-7.

Isnt the mileage in the ECU not in the console?? It isnt like an old mechanical guage, the ecu tells the odometer what to read by the information it recieves.

Am I wrong here??

Yup. I'm pretty sure that switching clusters isn't gonna serve you any purpose.

Fd3BOOST 08-01-2003 09:33 AM

The ECU is the "engine controll unit"

No where does it connect to any componet in the dash.

I have pulled the harness out at least 4 times and I never once saw any evidence that makes me belive that it would be connected to the guage cluster. The wires go throug the firewall and into the engine bay.

I assume that the odometer has some type of on board memory.

Next time I have mine out Ill put this other one I have in to see.

you're right

the mileage is stored in the odometer itself, and has nothing to do with the ECU. if the ECU controlled the odometer memory, wouldn't everyones mileage change when they go PFC?

jalers 08-01-2003 04:21 PM

That is right. The odometer has like a chip that stores the memory for the mileage. I was told that they could reset it but it is going to cost like $300 to have it done. That is why I am looking for someone that has an automatic that plans on not selling it with about 85k miles on there odometer. So we can just trade cluster gauges.
