Some of you might of read this on the RX7club forum.. But we are now having some problem with this.. So, I thought I move it here and let you guys know..

We (Me and Matt, (Proddimus Prime)) are doing this buy from Europe.. I'm paying for 20.. I'm also paying for the customs fee, shipping fee, and also shipping fee to the buyers (when it gets here). I'm making nothing.. nor Matt.

Just wanted to know if anyone else was interested.. Cost is currently set at $180 shipped to your door..

Currently we have 15 interest and out of those 15, about 12 are serious.. We need another 8 serious buyers.. When we hit 20, The price will most likely drop to 170-175 per shiftknob and the boot. Money will be collected starting tonight. I will accept Paypal (credit card:3% extra, Bank:no fee), or Money Order/personal check.

If you need reference, I think I have quite a few..

If we get 20 paid, When we ship out the shift knobs we will refund the 5-10.. or donate to RX7club or other organization..

Send the Paypal Payments to:

Credit Card via Paypal (total $186) to: philipsohn2004@yahoo.com

Bank Transfer via Paypal ($180) to: philipsohn2003@yahoo.com

I will post all the people who paid updated on this thread..

Thank you!

President of Mazda Rotary Car Club of Alabama

Are these going to come with everything pictured? I know you said the boots, but what about the wiring harness that goes to the cig lighter?

herblenny 01-20-2004 08:02 PM

Yes, all the harness will be included.. But I will double check with our source in Europe..

Did we also determine a cut-off date for the GB?

herblenny 01-20-2004 08:19 PM

As soon as 20 people pay, I'm going to go head and buy them..

At that point, GB is over.. And most likely I'm not going to do another buy.. Unless we have alot of interest.. in that case, I guess we will do it and try to make some profit to help pay for our troubles.. (which means it will be slightly more expensive)..

herblenny 01-20-2004 08:40 PM

is it cheaper if we do not want the boot?

No.. By my understanding, OEM kit comes with shiftboot.. I don't think we could just get the knob itself.. something about the boot being special b/c of the wiring harness..

Hope this make sense..

Matt talked with the guys in Europe so, he would know better than me.. I'll ask him to post.. his computer is down and don't have access at night..

I wanna send $100 on credit and $83 instant transfer. Should I send it all to one email, or to the two different ones?

Probably not by 31st.. Its already 21st.. and these are coming from Europe.. First we need as many people... I would like to get this by 1 st or 2nd week of Feb.. since I want to put it on for a show..

As stated above.. when you pay via Palpal, you are officially on the list.. until then, I'm sorry, but no spot will be reserved..

This is how its going to be.. I'll place the order when; 20 people have paid or end of the day Next Wednesday (Jan 27th).. That will give me time to get it and install on to my car..

After that, its all depend on how many people are interested to do another group buy.. but I wouldn't be as active.. I'm doing it right now because I want one asap..

Hope you understand.. Like I said, Me and Matt are doing this not to make money.. otherwise, It wouldn't be 180 shipped.. more like 200+ shipped..

The illumintation will work on any car. Its simply plugged inbetween the cigarette lighter and its harness. Im guessing the numbers on it at white or silver during the day.

Sorry for makingit difficult Herb, I just wanted to use some of the money laying around in my PayPal account. Money is sent BTW. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yes, it hooks up to your cig. lighter.. when your parking lights are on, they come on..

It works with MX5, Protege, RX7, RX8.. pretty much any RX7 shiftknobs will fit.. I know for fact that it will work with the cars above.... since people have interchange the knobs..

Once again.. deadline is 27th.. OR when 20 people are reached..

Actually it wont fit the series 4 threads. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png So anyone with a FC needs to use a series 5 shifter.

Well, let me fully specify:

I cannot find any information about the thread size on 79-80, and 81-83 shifters. I have found that Mazdatrix sells a short shifter for the 81-83 though, so I will try to contact them and ask about the thread size. I do know the thread size from 84-88 was the same, and the shifter that Mazdatrix sells for the S4, will also fit a 84-85. So heres an informal chart:

89-95 = No modifications needed

84-88 = Requires a 89-91 shifter: Drop in replacement

81-83 = Still trying to determine thread size

79-80 = No information on these whatsoever

Miata & Rx8 require no nodifications.

TonyTurboII 01-21-2004 05:24 PM

Ok, a little more info. (where the hell is the edit function?)

The thread size 12x1.25 is used from 88 all the way back to 79 (according to Mazdatrix).

Im still unsure if the 89-92 shifters will fit 79-83 models though. Atleast we know their thread size now.
