You need to conect that to the front of the engine somewere (like the oil pan bolts, just for some extra support). I would be amazed if your first hard launch doesn't bend those.... That motor has got some leverage on those, and being solid will only make it worse....

Theyre not solid, they use the stock FC rubber(or aftermarket urethane) engine mounts. And if by some chance these do flex, the mounting cups will come in contact with the oil pan rail on the center iron, transferring all for force into the center iron. Theyre not going to break.

Ohhh.. Ha. I missed the motor mounts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Post pictures of how that works! (especially if I'm wrong https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R )

Thats not a factory pre-cat. I dont know what downpipe it is, but it is definately not US spec OEM. Possibly OEM JDM(which has no pre-cat, as Im told) or an aftermarket one designed to clear the RHD steering rack.

I havent tested any other downpipes, but there should be room. There was a good bit of room with that downpipe, and in that area of the chassis, I believe the FD and FC are pretty similar. Everything seemed to fit like it was made to go there.

yer right.. didnt see the bottom end of that pic..

certainly looks like the hks dp..

i would think that the front of the engine hasto be saported some how . like said above. one hard launch and i'd assume you'd bend those a tiny bit if not saporting the front of the engine aswell.... have you tested these and re-mesured the brackets to spec making sure that they did not bend in any way posible?

The stock FD mounts grab from the back

unlike the FC's that have mounts in the middle

the tranny itself (I have heavy duty tranny mounts)keep the engine from flexing back

We shall see I have ordered my set

hope to have it in a week or so

I could of tapped the sides and the bottom of my new FD engine to adapt the stock FC brackets/mounts

but this is a much cleaner install.....

Its a secondary bridge/ported motor with scalloped rotors

600+ HP is the goal

As we went over in the PM, the front of the engine is supported. Looking back at my original install pics, those mounts were the prototype. The production mounts fit a little differently. Mainly, the cup, if you will, that bolts to the stock engine mount contacts the center iron at the oil pan rail on both sides. If there were any flexing in my mounts, it would only transfer weight onto the center iron.

Thank you. I really like the red on the mounts too. Email me a few pics when you get the engine mounted. I could use some new installed pics since mine dont reflect the updated mounts.

Ok Finally! I got the darn motor installed today (13B-REW)

I got 2 Turbo II's.......so I finnaly got the other finished enough to work on the High Performance one.

Everything fit good, motor was a breeze to install.

Plenty of room for the big turbo and 5" downpipe I plan to use https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Don't mind the mess in the engine bay

I'm redoing alot of the wiring, so its a mess right now.

Thanks again Adam!

Looks good... still waiting on some stuff before getting my order in...

whats the turn around on these? jw?

mazdaspeed7 01-04-2007 10:12 PM

On the mounts? I usually say one week, because Im always busy. The actual fab takes a good evening, and another day for the paint to dry.

One320B 01-05-2007 10:22 AM

Good deal... jw...

Are you still using the TII transmission or do you have plans to upgrade to the 13B-REW transmission?

Nice Job!!!!
