I made a copy of the Passenger footrest, similar to the JDM one offered by Mazda, but designed to fir U.S. Spec FD's

The benifits, besides looks, are increased ability to brace yourself. The passenger footwell is deep & the firewall is at a shallow angle.

Bolts directly to the firewall using exsisting studs. Comes complete with spacers & instructions. Tqakes less than 10 minutes to install using a 10mm socket.

Please visit my web site for photos of my car & other products I have made. http://home.attbi.com/~elkozak/MainPage.html

IM asking $75 Total, FedEx 2nd day air shipping included.

I want to buy that passenger foot rest when I get some extra cash.

Silver Ninety Three 01-19-2003 11:38 AM

Also, how stable is it? Looks like its only bolted by 2 bolts on the top. It won't bend if someone pushed down hard on it?

Sled Driver 01-20-2003 12:31 AM

It's constructed from 0.10" thick 7075 aluminum that is heat teated, after the bending, to T6 temper. The bottom & kick pnl edges are bent to increase stiffness. The bottom edge is then wedged into the carpet when you tighten the mount nuts. You can apply a lot of pressure & it wont budge.

PM Steve " Sinful7" ask his opinion.

Thanks,

I can tell you how tough this "little" piece of aluminum really is. I needed to do a *slight* modification, and bend one of the mounting points out a tiny bit. It took probably 400 pounds of pressure and a solid rubber mallet to bend the mount 1/16 of an inch. This footrest is incredibly tough. Also, my girlfriend said that the difference in passenger stability is amazing. I was doing some classicly hard street driving, and she didn't have to reach for the door grip (don't touch my door grip!!) a single time. She also used to grab the leg bolster of the seat bottom, but not anymore! Because of it's design, it is extremely stable, using the strength of the firewall for reinforcement. Not only is this piece not deforming inder any circumstances, it's not going to move and inch. Also, the floor mat is still easily removed, and there *should* be no modifications to the car required.

I made a template so I can duplicate them. When my supply gets low, I just work thru lunch for a couple of days & catch up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I try to keep a couple in stock at all times.
