We are now offering rebuilt and polished/ceramic coated alternators as well as upper and lower intake manifolds. Pricing is $135 for the rebuilt and polished alternator, $150 for the lower intake, and $200 for the upper intake manifold. Turn around time is 7-14 days.

Silver Ninety Three 11-23-2002 11:53 PM

JadedX 11-24-2002 09:34 AM

what do u do when u rebuild the alternator?

it looks good nice work :bigthumg:

Silver Ninety Three 11-25-2002 07:41 AM

We replace the bushing and the diode while the alternator is apart for polishing

Silver Ninety Three 11-27-2002 05:06 PM

I'm probably going to have mine done soon.

blaze08 11-28-2002 10:29 AM

I know this might be a dumb question but are Polished and chrome the same. Or is chrome more shinny and expensive, is there a difference in performance. thanks...

Dragon 11-28-2002 11:26 AM

Polished aluminum will oxidize and requires maintenance and repolishing, the coating they use you can just wipe clean https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png ... can you guys do other parts like turbo compressors or front covers, how about front, intermediate, and rear housings?? etc? If so what would the price be on some stuff like that?

1FastT2 11-28-2002 11:36 AM

I can assume that you will do 2nd gen manifolds?

silverr1 11-28-2002 06:56 PM

When you guys rebuild the alternator, could you upgrade it to put out more amps? I know this is possible just not sure if you guys do it. Also do you know what the stock alternator puts out in amps.

FD is supposed to be 100 Amps, I think the FC ran around 80 Amps..

Viper1308 11-28-2002 10:07 PM

Besides it looking great under the hood what other benefits come from polished pieces??

Fd3BOOST 11-28-2002 10:19 PM

Nothing, it just looks better.

lol.. When your hoods open dumb asses will flock to the front of your car and ask stupid questions... I think they are attracted to anything shinny, kinda like bugs to a light..

Silver Ninety Three 11-29-2002 02:33 PM

Its just for looks. Polished pieces realy make the engine bay stand out. Its much better looking than the dirty oxidized look aluminum takes on after time.

Silver Ninety Three 11-29-2002 02:35 PM

Someone asked if I can polished other parts too. We can do a stock mount intercooler and an efini y-pipe for $175 for both. If you want anything else polished just ask.

Silver Ninety Three 11-29-2002 02:38 PM

Chroming involves a coating being applied to the part. The benefit of this is that it is easier to maintain as you can just wipe it down with some windex or something. The process is also very expensive. I have a friend that spent over $2000 to chrome a number of parts in his engine bay. Chrome also adds weight.

Yeah, most people I've seen seem to notice a polished manifold before they notice a good turbo setup.

silverr1 11-29-2002 07:29 PM

Well can you guys upgrade the stock alternator to put out more amps?

RX7ryder 12-01-2002 03:11 AM

do u guys have FD alt already? i need one chrome, for my FC : )

RX7ryder 12-08-2002 02:20 PM

well ok, can u guys rebuild a FC alt, an chrome it?

Fd3BOOST 12-09-2002 01:09 AM

Check out my bling bling skillz.

I still want to get you guys to ceramic coat my LIM.

Fd3BOOST 12-09-2002 01:10 AM

Looks good.. but how much would it be to chrome the alternator.. i figured this should be chrome since I've read that the alt oxidizes faster.. something about not being only aluminum.. but magnezium or something?

rbrtech 12-09-2002 09:43 AM

hey fd3boost what are you using

9BASE3 12-09-2002 10:00 AM

Nice Dave!

RX7ryder 12-09-2002 04:07 PM

RX7ryder 12-13-2002 03:55 PM

Fd3BOOST 12-13-2002 05:19 PM

I don't want to steal these guys steam. I need them to ceramic coat a piece for me.

Anybody that needs polishing should PM me.

Fd3BOOST 12-13-2002 05:19 PM

Silver Ninety Three 12-13-2002 10:01 PM

We don't do chrome. Its alot more expensive and retains heat. The best thing about the polished alternator is it includes a rebuild. We can do ceramic coating. Its just not as shiny as the polishing.

JadedX 12-16-2002 03:09 PM
