Unless you have a machine shop and/or are a master machinist, go with Kennedy Engineered.(I have a lathe and milling machine and still didn't do my own.) For around $900 I got a stage 4 clutch assembly, adapter, high torque starter and they built me a 12lb flywheel which was match balanced to turboII flywheel. The machining on the adapter is a wonder to look at (first class job.)
They also have a small booklet that answeres questions about cooling lines, radiator, etc. (cooling lines out of electrical conduit.) BTW, I've got an '87 TurboII in a '78 kit car with a '74 VW pan. I have an old VW mag. that shows the first conversion for VW/rotary (supercharged.) This is not a cheap conversion (if you want it to hold togather for more than a day.) I've got a "Stuff" transaxle (cost more than the engine and has a rino case, 4 spyders, welded 3rd-4th, overdrive 4th, hardened keys, etc.) and have beefed up everything. I suggest welding on a "prowlers" beefup tube kit on the trailing arms, urethane bushings, Bus CV joints with thing or porsche 944 stub axles, Bus CV flanges on the transaxle (stuff will do this for you.) A good double trans strap is a must. Swing-away axles torque and help take the load off of the trans. If your going turbo or fuel injected (13b), I would suggest a Haltech E6K,E6X or E11K( I have a Haltech E6K and love it!) If you have any questions other please post.
